Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

In fact, the CGT used the same alarm system as the 996/986.

I called Sunset, they told me that the Carrera GT uses a different programming procedure than the 996 cars, so their keys don't come with key tags.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

21 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

One of my keys is bad- so I ordered a Carrera GT key (with the guts) from a dealer. It didn't come with the tag that has the 24 digit code on it for programming... Do these Carrera GT keys not come with the tag, or is this a one off issue? Any way to determine the code without the tag?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 8306839

I would assume that this is an error on the dealer's part- I did read about someone else's GT key not coming with the code tag... Can anyone confirm that they've bought a GT key that had the key code tag?

POST 4Original post

No code on the bag either? Mine (not GT) came with a tag and the same# was on the ziplock bag it was in along with the part#

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Nope, no tag on the key, bag, or box...

POST 7Original post

Take it back to the dealer!! Ask them if there is no tag with the code how are THEY going to program it.

POST 8Original post

I bet THEY kept the code so only THEY could program it!

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Guys, this is Sunset Porsche... I'll call to see if I can return it...

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I called Sunset, they told me that the Carrera GT uses a different programming procedure than the 996 cars, so their keys don't come with key tags. Can anyone confirm their Carrera GT key came with a code tag attached?

POST 11Original post

why did you get the CGT key for the 996?.... If you like the head of the CGT, you can buy just that seperately.

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I bought the key head, not the blade. That's my intention, I like the CGT key head, and I have one bad key, so I wanted to program the CGT key to work on my car...

POST 13Original post

Take the transmitter out of the old one and put it in the new one. CGT key

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was hoping to use the new key's electronics since I have one dead key...

POST 15Original post

The CGT key head always come with a code. In fact, the CGT used the same alarm system as the 996/986.

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Gert- Thank you for the info, that's what I thought. Would you happen to have something from the CGT manual that shows the same programming sequence as the 996?

POST 17Original post

Just look in the PET, you will see that the part nr of the US/CGT alarm is the same as the US/996. The code card that comes with the CGT key also has a 996 part nr, the same part nr as a 996 replacement key head.

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 8310950

Excellent, thank you. I found the attached document- am I reading this correctly in that you can determine the key code for a key with an unknown key code? (hope that makes sense...)

POST 19Original post

This still asks for the 24 digit learning code for the new transmitter.

POST 21 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I called Suncoast- they say they are pretty sure the CGT key comes with the code tag. So I told Sunset that, they ordered a new key, and I shipped the tagless key back to them. Now, if the replacement key doesn't have a tag... I'll let you all know what happens. I'd really like to have the CGT head with NEW internals. Seems silly to put my 8 year old electronics into a new CGT key that comes with new internals...
