Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Tech used diagnostics computer to trouble shoot the system and found several error codes associated with the door lock IIRC from the work invoice.

thanks for the comments, I'll give it a try with the window reset thing.

Suggestion
You can do the window reset thing -- it is a good suggestion -- but it sounds like the door lock is going out.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello Porsche community.
Pierre - the Swiss 996TT guy, introduced my to this site.
I just go my 1st Porsche, a used 996 C4S and I'm super happy with it.
But, when opening the passenger door (from the inside mainly), the window is supposed to go down a few mm only but in my case the window goes down completely.
Any suggstions to fix this problem or do I have to go to the dealership? (warranty available)
I also noticed that sometimes I get a strange, very fast sound "tik-tik-tik-tik-tik".... from behind the central console (I assume some electric contacts/circuit which is going crazy). After 5-15 seconds it's gone. This happens in combination with the window issue or when I'm closing the passenger-door and removing the key.
Thanks in advance for any feedback
Cheers
David
First thing to try is reprogram the window memory stop. With the window down and door shut run the window all the way up till its closed and hold the buttong in the close position a couple of seconds for it to register that as the fully closed position. Hopefully its just missing knowing where is the closed position.
The windows and sun roof loose their memories and have to be reprogramed every time after the battery has been disconnected.
You can do the window reset thing -- it is a good suggestion -- but it sounds like the door lock is going out.
If warranty available just take the car to the dealer for the window symptom.
My 02 Boxster's passenger side door lock needed to be replaced. I wish I had a warranty to cover the cost of this. The door lock part is around $400 and installation (along with some diagnostics to pinpoint the lock was bad and not a switch) came to several hundred dollars more.
In my car's case the window would fail to go down when the door opened, either from the outside or the inside, or go down then go back up again once the door opened.
The security system was acting strangely: Beeping when I locked the car; Turning on the door lock button red LED while driving. I thought these symptoms from a flaky center console sensor switch but turns out the door lock was the problem. Tech used diagnostics computer to trouble shoot the system and found several error codes associated with the door lock IIRC from the work invoice.
Does your car have memory seats? Autoclimate control? Something that positions itself when you first unlock the car and get in?
Sincerely,
Macster.

thanks for the comments, I'll give it a try with the window reset thing.
I noticed that if I lift the door handle slowly, teh window comes down as it should ... the I open the door and the window stays there as it should.
When lifting the doorhandle and opening the door in one go, then the window goes down comlpetely, sometimes (not all the time).
Anyway, the car goes to the dealer tmrw to check it.
