i just picked up a 996 and its coming down to florida. the previous owner used mobil 10w30 oil, i was thinking if i should switch to 15w50, its always hot in Miami... will post pictures later this week

Search is your friend. As un-hardcore as this sounds, I pick up 2 5-quart jugs of mobil 1 15w-50 for about $40 total at Wal-mart. Cheap, always available, and saves a lot of plastic. I drive mine hard and the oil is still pretty clean when it comes out 5k miles later. Oil pressure is good and there is no lifter noise at all. Haven't had it on track, though.

no where in the manual it recommends 0w40 !! not sure why people use it... it does however recommend 15w50 and 10w40 for warm climate. i guess 15w50 it is, just like in the 964 regards
