Suggestion
I think these pinstripes look terrible in person, great concept but looks like you're running on whitewalls in real life on low pros.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Have been racking my brain for months trying to decide on a black insert with a polished staggered lip, a completely polished wheel, or a gun metal insert with a staggered lip. The only thing i do know is i want the staggered lip...lol

these look pretty sweet as do a few others i've seen. any pics of black 996's and opinions are definately welcomed. strictly a weekend driver and no track time...YET !
Im running black wheels on mine and think you need something to brake it up. Either silver or silver/black.... The nice thing about the black wheels is that they do not show dust at all.... Less cleaning.
only 1 car so far looks proper and that's ray's tho it'd look even better in 19s.
the others look like trash, picked out by guys who have no clue about the aesthetic. sorry.
game over
RG5's are nice...however I think the 3 piece look matches up better with cross drilled rotors...the rivets will make them "pop" better on a black car...depends on what kind of look you are after...
I really need to sack it up and buy a nice set of street wheels for my car!!!...think the wife would mine 4 sets for the 996?...already got 3 for the M3 and 3 for the Audi.
and your wheels whatever they are... r les schwab/discount tire/insert whatever chain truck/tire/free beef chain here compared to the RG5s. quit pushing wheels that suck dude.
look at those rivets. absolutely cheapo.
This would be what I would put on a black 996. Matt Black with either red or yellow or silver pin stripe

There's just something about the LM's that keeps them at the top of my list though...and despite the fact that I still don't think it's as attractive, the LM-R has really been catching my eye lately too. maybe I need to quit looking at the cup car threads!
so they do make BBS LMs for narrowbody fitment? i know they don't make the LMs for widebody fitment meaning the ben choi 19x12 requirement.
LMRs are nice, but the LMs still look the best.
The last time I was in Wheel Dynamics they had some nice RUFs which were excessed. Still think those are the nicest on most 911s, they just work and look huge in 19s

(Carlos and Roland there are Great guys and Porsche Nuts as many here will tell you)
They also sell a ton of those 4 inch rear lip wheels, the grand majority with silver centers, I'm not a huge fan of the black center / polished rim thing on black cars, but that's just me. The best looking painted centers I've seen are the gunmetal.
+1 Maybe I'm a little biased.
I have painted "black chrome" wheels (think gun metal and you'll be close). I use these for street and I love the look. A little bit of color to break up the black car + tires and no PITA rivets to clean.
I also have clear anodized (raw aluminum colored) CCW C14 track wheels. These look pretty nice too.
My other set of track wheels are black anodized CCW C10. Being all black the car will suffer a bit too much from the all black color scheme, but it does make your car look pretty evil. That works for some folks and not others.
Cheers,
Another set of RG5s on a C2 MKI Aerokit. Although I no longer have the wheels, I converted back to the OEM sport wheels. However my new 18" DPE RO6 Variant S are on order.
OEM Sports will go up for sale shortly...
yeah i may be biased too, the only paint on my wheels is the gunmetal on the horizontal surfaces, makes the wheel look way nicer in person than 100% polished.
I hear ya. Also, pics just don't do a quality paint job justice. My wheels look "alive" in person with the reflective paint being heavier on the lip and faded on the top of the dark spokes. They pick up the light and reflect it back to you in various ways due to the shape of the spokes of the factory GT3 wheels. While at the same time the dark portions of the spokes provide the contrast you want. Black barrels are nice to help hide brake dust too.
Cheers,
i forgot to mention to the author of this thread... your oem wheels are one of the best looking oem porsche wheels made (which isn't a hard feat). so it's ever more critical for you to make the right choice with aftermarket ones.
I have a black C4 with aero as well, and my chrome turbospokes are seriously peeling in some places. Any thoughts on the best "low cost" solution? I am not quite ready to drop the bills on a new set of wheels, but what about refinishing? Can a previously chromed wheel be refinished to look a shade of silver, gun metal, or otherwise something spiffy?
that looks great! - Rays has bigger sides to the wing... Man mine looks like a 4x4 compared to the stance on that...I think I will work that first, but somehow, someday.....I will get this wing thing figured out
I saw some at Michael Shaw that fit NB too...
Also a side note I contacted "Wicked motors" those guys on ebay that ruin so many cars and asked them if they wanted it for a "project" The reply was they can make a wing for $100 so it was worthess to them too..... That bench idea isnt looking too bad
