i was looking for a change....do you think it will look weird?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi, I have some rock chips on my current bumper and was thinking instead of repainting, why not get a new look.... I went on flee bay and found a GT2 bumper. The problem is that the listing says its only for a Porsche Boxter 97-04.
I have a 1999 C4. Are the fronts of the boxter and my car the same? Will the bumper fit my car?
Thanks,
Oh if I do get it, how much should I pay someone to have it painted? (Speed Yellow)
The Boxster and 99-01 996 are the sane, make sure the bumper is of good quality, so many of the knockoffs are not great and difficult to fit. take a look at MASHAW.com they have decent stuff.
Also, maybe consider a factory Mk 1 GT3/Aerokit bumper.
Painting depends on the quality of the shop and if the bumper will need blending. If you have a good body shop you work with give them a call.
<jumps to attention!>
did you say GT2 !!??
Man have I got a deal for you!!!
How would you like a SPEED YELLOW OEM GT2 rear wing for REALLY CHEAP!!
PM for details
Also NO - IIRC boxsters are NB and C4 are WB cars.. someone else might confirm as I am not 100% sure on that. BUT if the bumper is OEM GT2, then I think it should fit... ask the seller if it is OEM or aftermarket and IF he/she had it installed on the Boxster or not?
GL with the purchase of that wing (whoops I meant bumper)
Thanks for the quick reply, i currently have the MK 1 aerokit bumper with the side skirts and the two pieces on the rear bumper..... i was looking for a change....do you think it will look weird? (with the areokit sides and rear with a GT 2 front???)
Be cautious with aftermarket bumpers, they sometimes need quite a bit of modification to fit properly.

I thought that 1999 C4 were NB, the bumper is not OEM, a replica for certain....
What kinda wing do you have? i have the aero kit wing on right now.....
its looks nice... but i will have to pass... sticking with upgrading the bumper....(i dont think i would be able to open/close my top with that thing on.... Thanks!)
if you are talking about the front bumper... yes it will fit your bumper... post the link of the bumper... just to be sure. We should be able to tell.
paint will run you about 600-700.
The OP has a Cab so the GT3/GT2 wing won't allow the top mechanism to open/close properly. I also like the GT3 wing for my cab but was told it requires some cutting/fitting that is not worth it. Porsche has a special shorter wing especially for Cabs. Cheers.
+1 and still feeling the pain...
My car has been in the body shop coming up on 8 weeks now... I bought turbo-look bumper covers (front and rear) and side rocker panels from a local place. They recommended a shop they had experience with...
As much as I miss my car, I keep telling the shop to take their time (and they're taking me up on it), because I prefer that the job not be rushed. The bumper covers are fiberglass and it takes effort to make sure all edges and gaps are even... The latest delay was making new brackets for the bumperettes on the rear bumper to fit flush against the cover... then dressing the openings so there are no gaps... and it's all done with fiberglass, which takes time to cure, sand and maybe even repeated if it doesn't match up right... So, it's become a labor of love for them and the dry-fitting shows. I suppose if I coughed up more money that they might go a little faster, but $2300 (not including parts) to do the work right seems like a bargain to me. (With all the mods I want to do, I've got more time than money...)
But I figured I spent most of my life waiting to get the car, a couple of months to make the mods I want come out right is okay with me...
Rudy
that is a crazy story.... cant believe its taking so long and costing over 2K to get it fitted..... i may have to rethink this.....Thanks everyone for the help..
Rudy,
8 weeks already? WOW!
If you had ordered a new car the same day you dropped you car off, it would be a couple of weeks away from getting on a boat in Germany.
Just for example, I had a factory (Except for the GT3 wing) GT3 kit installed and painted for 1700 with proper blending.
The MASHAW wing needed little or no prep work... car back in a week
Yes, I didn't think it would take so long either... Fitting and painting the front bumper cover and the side rockers came to $1550 and the rear was $500... that includes painting and feathering the edges so you don't notice a transition (it's Arctic Silver...)
Too far into it to complain now...
Rudy
I know, I know... If I only had the means to make that an option...
Trying to stay positive about it all... I have to admit I was irritated when I stopped in on Tuesday, since I was expecting to get it back this weekend (I was hoping to get it back last week in time for the Palomar Run... but it didn't happen and my F-150 or Sequoia probably wouldn't be able to keep up...). But I realized that now would be the wrong time to express that irritation - I need them to stay positive until it's all put back together (I don't want them slapping things together just to get it done...)
It is, what it is and way too late to complain now...
Rudy
