I just got done installing my new VFLOW EVOMS intake on my 996 C2. The power increase is noticeable from 3-6K RPM. The sound is much louder like I am in a sports car. It installed in about 20min as everything was direct fit. Definitely happy with this upgrade.
Check out Page 3 for real Torque and HP gains!!!
I got 10 instock if anyone else wants a sweet deal. Call me for the hook up.

As far as the warranty, ask your dealer. Usually they are ok with it.
I have emailed you all on the price or PM you, please keep those PRIVATE.
As far as the increase, see there dyno sheet here -
http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/i..._2336_794_1211
The V1 does not have the cold air box. It is open to the element.
We have 1 V1 available and the rest are V2 VFlow for 996 3.4L or 3.6L. Also we have B&M SS, Fabspeed Exhaust, and more instock. Will gladly give multiple part discounts.
Those graphs are with the intake AND chip. I hate when companies do that crap. What is the net result of JUST the intake mod? If it's 10-12hp, lets see the dyno graph please.
Then you will have to point me to a link because your website is nothing but a mirror of what EVOMs has posted on theirs. The text on the dyno graphs clearly state "The Blue line is the car fitted with the EVO V-Flow intake and EVO / GIAC Chip".
Correct me if I'm wrong, but typically these type air filters increase hp as long as there is LOTS of fresh air flow to the engine compartment (i.e. sustained high track speeds) and often result in lower hp for street use due to pulling in more hot engine compartment air. The dyno results of course, would depend on how and how much air was ducted to the engine compartment.
Indeed, Weissach was extremely selective in valve dimensions and exhaust backpressures with the M96 to maximize uniform power outputs; especially after the post Toyota consultants changed the company forever. I am not surprised to see low torque gains under the power curve even with Lim's reflash. Placebo controlled acceleration stats may be more pertinent to prove "more power". One would have to ask in a > 3000 lb vehicle if and where the power increase would be discernable, objectively speaking.
CAF - you cant make HP when your stopped at a stoplight, so your right. So when your moving and accelerating, you are getting the same airflow into the direct VFLOW induction box as if you are on the track. Your engine will be MUCH hotter on a track then street driving. But again that is why the box is there to keep it seperate from the engine unlike the old style.
Nick I will look for one and let you know.
Re-animator...I guess I need to go back to college, I cant even understand your post.
Vivid I'm interested too. Can you PM me a price for a 1999 V2. Do you have any specials on a the B&M SSK? Do you have the brushed aluminum guage bezels? I couldn't find them on your website. Thanks.
In simple terms, the gains available from the M96 are design limited by the valve size and the backpressure requirements to make the engines deliver uniform power. This is why the Sport Exhaust from Porsche delivers no advertised power gain, but no low end torque loss with rpm variable mechanical intra-muffler baffle control. Also, Weissach needed to do the powerkit to improve breathing in the heads to get the kind of HP increase EVOMS/GiAC is boasting of. If you have a dyno that shows a 30 HP gain for approx. 1000 rpm on a tachometer and that car weighs 3000 lbs, then how much faster will it move? If you have a car that weighs 3,000 lbs and has 10 more ft-lbs of torque across the whole rev range, then how much faster will that car be over a stock car? Now, I remember when Bruce A. did dynos before and after Todd Z.'s first intake which resulted in a lot of nastiness and a lot of refunds. Allegations of snake oil have left a pretty deep scar on some hardcore Porsche guys. No need to go back to college to understand relevant history and basic design physics. I think posing the question of what this mod will do in the real world is appropriate to ask. Seat of the pants claims may be okay for mod junkies, but those of us who ask for more can only increase sales if convinced through scientific verification.
PM's have been sent.
Reanimator...good points, but beyond all your math and the history of Todd Zuccone and Zuccs Motorsports, we are talking about a different product and time. Tuned or untuned...I have dealt with many cars and building high hp cars turbo and NA... I will be more then happy to ship you one, have you test it and dyno it, and when you show me that it does not work, I will refund you 100%.
CAF..Like many manufacturers, there is always improvement. If you think everything Porsche designed is the final frontier, you are wrong. But this would be a pointless conversation. So I will simply say, if you are happy with your car, then that is all that matters.
I believe the onus falls on the manufacturer or reseller to substantiate power claims. Seat of the pants vs. science is a poor selling point, IMHO. Nobody does it better than Weissach. Thanks for the offer, though.
Vivdracing, I will be away on business for a couple of weeks, Can you hold one for me, until I return ? I can give you a CC for now, but don't ship it until I return. You can e-mail with your decision - mail to:

Thanks, Dan. That should increase orders substantially for all the right reasons. It will be even better if/when Rennlisters verify the manufacturers' dyno gains. Any acceleration benefits would be appreciated also.
The only graph I could find on evoms stated for the 996 was this one. Perhaps they should include the one you posted on their website under the V Flow section as well.
"The Dyno Graph Below represents HP/TQ at the wheels on a 2003 996 3.6L.
The Red line is the car STOCK. The Blue line is the car fitted with the EVO V-Flow intake and EVO / GIAC Chip."
To clarify a little per the evoms site. The dyno shown is from a 2005 997. The stock power is the blue line at 278.7. The green line is not with the intake alone as has been erroneously stated. It is "GIAC/EVO chip only" [evoms website] at 288.4. The red line is the chip/intake combo at 304.3. Hope that helps clear things up. If evoms has a true intake only dyno, then that would probably keep the topic less diluted.
www.evoms.com (look under 997 intake)
Well this is the dyno of a stock 996 3.6L without intake, with intake, and with GIAC tune.
http://www.vrsm.vividracing.com/main/evoms996dyno.jpg
And here is the TORQUE DYNO of the same car...
You know, those numbers are remarkably similar to the 997 torque curve posted on evoms.com. Again the lines go blue=stock, green=GIAC/EVO chip only, and red= V Flow/ chip combo. Hmmm.
Perhaps we can get Bruce Anderson to do a proper intake only dyno for old times sake.
Listen man... I am not EVO, I do run the product and know there history. I do back there product and our history of vehicle building will truly show we do not use crap. Either you have bad blood against EVO or just like to question things...either is fine, email them directly if you have a problem. I have posted all requested information and done my part to promote a high quality product. So please have courtesy and not ruin our post.
BTW what do you drive and what do you have on your car???
Nothing personal, just the pursuit of truth in advertising. In any case you could see my challenging posts as a way to get customers to buy the chip/intake combo to get the gains posted in the dyno. I drive an '02 Carrera Coupe and an '03 AMG C32. I like evoms and have done good business with Brian in the past. It appears that the only one claiming the posted dynos are "intake only" is you, Dan. You've got $6K on V flow inventory sitting there, why not do a dyno and win over the sceptics? I hope you can appreciate my efforts here at some level, but I'll check out of this thread to demonstrate my passion is not against anyone, but simply for truth in advertising. Peace.
here's the dyno run that is posted on evoms.com with their stage1 program (intake and flash)
i will be dynoing this weekend but unfortunately it will reflect all the mods i have done.
I had the V1 on my old 996(3.4 with non egas) and I do like the induction roar but for some reason and maybe it doesn't affect EGAS cars(don't know why) but I had hicccuping at steady cruising on freeway from 3500-4500 rpm and it gets worse going downhill. That's my experience with it but at the track never had that going on since I'm up at higher rpm's. Regards. Mike
Prices have been PM.
ReAnimator...appreciate your persistance, and trust me...we have over $500K in parts, so the couple intakes are not a problem... My point is they make power with or without a chip. And that is why we have now posted both dynos. As far as us have a dyno...we do, its on the way to our 10000sqft shop. So I guess when it is installed in mid June, I will personally do before and afters. But I think EVOMS claims are safe enough. Nothing personally either, I am just trying to promote products.
As far as the V1, it was good, but needed improvement, hence the V2
PM's and emails have been sent. Patiently waiting return PM's and emails.
Anyone want a Fabspeed Exhaust or B&M short shifter? I got 5 of each instock. PM me!
Rss997 - I have a question, and NO I am not trying to be a smart-***! I always thought "Triple Black" referred to a Cab with Black Paint, Interior, and Top. Your SIG states "Triple Black" but you appear to have a Coupe. I don't understand what the 3rd Black is! Can you clarify for me?
I just thought I may add...I may not have a 996/997, but I do have a EVO intake which is closed off from the engine bay like the V2. First and foremost the sound is intoxicating. Secondly, there have been a few before and after dynos done by a few reliable sources on PPBB. 6hp was the gain on a dyno. I would suspect it maybe a little more during highway or track driving. The one important thing it didn't show a reduction in power. And yes, I saw the article years ago in Excellence on the Zucc intake. That design was made to fail, just look at it. Its totally open to the engine bay. Another point that I may add. Just because Porsche doesn't make it, doesn't mean it doesn't work. Hell, Porsche sells us detuned engines and later re-establishes the engine in a new model tweaked with new intake,ECU and new headers (986S and 987S). In short...Porsche squeezes every penny out of us, because the can.
What was in the past is the past and this is new designs and engineering. Different dynos, load setups, cars, and tuners will always have different numbers. The before and after is all that matters, and clearly showing on the 996 is a respectable gain with and without a chip. Like building any car, you need to establish the building blocks. No point to tune the air/fuel without more air flow to gain more power. No point to gain more air flow without getting it out faster without an exhaust. Why change cams if you cant tune them. The intake is an EXCELLENT first step and for those that want the extra, can build off of it. The 996 and 986 systems are completely different.
Slow up a bit. I wasn't saying it wasn't a good starting point or it doesn't work. I was agreeing with you that there is some small gains depending on the car and intake system. Geez...
I too took autobahnNY's post as an "it's worth it" post.
But Dan does have a good point. To get the most out of your air pump (engine) you need to tune both ends (intake, exhaust) and the pump controller (ECU/chip). And this is a good start for those looking to do so.

Sorry not trying to jump down throats... Alot of people bring up the past of certain companies and assume. I get defensive as we build alot of high quality industry recognized cars, and one thing I wont do is put crap on my own...so I fully back this product. Sorry again.
I just put the EVOMS intake on my car last night. This is probably a repeat of past posts but it was very easy to install and took about 30 minutes. The quality looks very good and the instructions were good but not perfect.
A few little details could be better but it was easy to figure out. I think that the bracket that is used to attach the intake to the body via the stock bolt hole should have come with a spacer or grommet. Right now the new bracket is sitting on the paint where the stock intake had a rubber grommet/spacer. I was also a little worried and may still be that the intake is about a 1/4 inch from hitting one of the pulleys but it probably has space. Last little thing that I was unable to determine is if the new intake matches up with the trunk intake hole. It looks close but I was unable to determine if it was 100% perfect(I don't know if the stock was a 100% though).
Besides the tiny little problems I would say it is a high quality piece and it doesn't look like something on a ricer mobile. The sound is very noticeable and nice at WOT above 4000 RPM but almost unoticeable at idle. The test drive last night made me want to stop every 1000 feet to be able to punch it to redline to listen to that addicting noise. Kind of like the thread about do performance parts make you drive you car differently? Hell yes.
I have only driven about a 1000 miles since I bought the car two months ago so it is really hard to tell the difference between before and after. I think I feel a difference but that may be the great new engine noise. I think it may be difficult to tell a 3% (10 horsepower?) increase in power. I was very surprised and not very pleased with the stock sound when I bought my car as was most of the rennlisters. It sounded like a lexus (quiet but pleasant and not hard core). The EVOMS intake definitly opens up the sound at WOT. This is the first mod I have made so I have the stock mufflers. I am almost ready to buy the Fabspeed mufflers though. With aftermarket exhaust or PSE I imagine that the new intake will add some more wonderful engine noise but may be drowned out a little. Back to the original question of seat of the pants, I would have to say yes. The price for a high quality part, 3% increase in power, and a wonderful engine note is worth the buy IMO.
Fordo is right about the whole thing in his first post. I had the same problem with the AC pulley that is really, really close. Using an inspection mirror, it is about 1/4 inch away but after having a friend rev the car to see if there is any movement it is all good. 4000rpm is when the fun really starts. I know alot has been said but we do so much to our cars and it is up to the individual to decide what is going to work for them. I will put in opinion and say that with PSE and the intake I feel cooler about my car. Besides who wants that stock big plastic thing in the engine compartment.
P.S. Dan at vivid racing is a really helpful guy if you want to order.
Wilson, Funny thing that you also used an inspection mirror to check out the tight fit. I had to use one too but it looks good. I have seen a lot of tighter moving parts in helicopters that boggle my mind.
Dan or anyone else, do you have any specs on the air cleaning efficiency of the filter from a percentage point? ie) 98 or 99% as efficient as the stock filters. I am concerned because i do occaisionally drive on dirt roads. I just changed my stock filter, and noted a ton of fine particles/dust that came out of the filter as i was removing it. Thanks
The paper mesh filters by K&N are going to flow much better, but still significantly catch all those particles. What is the advantage over the stock filter is you can re clean this for the life of the vehicle instead of replacing.
Trouble with cleanable filters such as the K&N is that filter oil finds its way onto MAF and will cause trouble. I personally would never use this type of filter as they pass way too much dust. This IS the caveat to a 'better' flowing filter.
If it flows better, it cant be filtering like OE paper filters. This is the trade-off.
So is the car faster or slower with the intake on? my guess is more air without a properly tuned chip would result in slower performance; don't let the neat sound of the air filter fool you.
