I'd check your QC Highway traffic act for reflector requirements...........

So I've decided to change the tinting on my taillight exposing enough of the red lens not to get hassled.

It's possible that there are local provisions not listed, but those mostly apply to daytime running lights.

told him that on economy cars they use a reflector sticker...
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

OK my fellow RL brethren... I'd like to get your opinion once again.
I have had cops behind me on a daily bases and since I tinted my taillights (2 years) never had an issue... until recently.
I have now gotten 3 tickets in as many months for my taillights and even my side markers ($165,- per).
The taillights, OK... but the markers
So I've decided to change the tinting on my taillight exposing enough of the red lens not to get hassled.
Which one of the 3 options do you guys like best...
Also, should I stay with blacked-out brake light or go back to red?
Thanks guys!
Sid.
Shame you can't leave it like it is! Looks pretty sweet to me... But in answer to your question, I like option two with a little of the white to break up the flow. Definitely not the first one. BTW, who makes your spoiler?
Thanks Divot!
I really thought it would not have been a problem (and it wasn't for 2 years) since the reverse light and turn signal is located in the clear part of the lens.
But I really couldn't believe the last cop gave me a $165,- ticket for the side marker...what the hell !
I don't know anyone who's gotten a ticked for that, do you?
BOTH!
Yep good eye
, thought of which taillight I like best (DB9) and tried to design it into the 996.
Not sure if it works though...
Yeah "the pumpkins" mine are clear but it's lit,
Cop say's "you don't have orange reflector sticker on your car"... told him that on economy cars they use a reflector sticker... on high-end cars they design a flush mounted lens, with reflector housing and a bulb... "tell it to the judge"
OK ya hippie but why?
"than everyone else"...
You mean somebody looooooves me?
Wait... if I paid almost $800,- bucks in tickets for this "love" Oh man don't tell me they can book me for solicitation as well
hahaha
well, I liked 2 but thought the corners closest to the front of the car didnt follow the lines as well... then I just looks at the overall colors and thought - less is more....one color -vs- two
it might be easier to do #2 since your already white on top (old man!)
If you have an amber-emitting bulb in your sidemarkers you're legal and should fight the ticket. The lens itself does not have to be amber.

#2, I like #1 from that back corner perspective but from straight behind, I like #2.
I'd check your QC Highway traffic act for reflector requirements...........
you bet man, I have watched you do some some things I didnt think would work out and you pull it off in a cool way, your car is so lucky to have you as an owner - which ever you do, i am sure the results will be complimentary to the rest of your work - awesome as always!
The Wiki article shows international manufacturing regulations with special mention of North America where appropriate. It's possible that there are local provisions not listed, but those mostly apply to daytime running lights.
I like #2 but if I didn't know the background behind why you're changing them up, I'd look at the trim around the light and think, "Why did he do that?"...which is why I went with #1.
The only problem with #1 is that you won't have a real back-up light if you tint the tops red, too.
Maybe you should just paint your whole car red...naaaah.
-Eric
WHAT.... paint the whole thing red!?!
I'll have every cop in county after me then
I my first Ferrari was yellow... lets just say there's a reason the second one is silver
I figured black is better than previous red and white Porsches... guess not
Mind ya i know I have a "look" which makes the cops salivate...
I really don't get it
I'm just a hippie looking for "loveeee" got any daughters officer ?"
Oh ohhhhh... big daddy's here...
All the kids are playing nice Mark!
That's what I love about RL... You can go from getting a ticket to maximus glutoneus in 3.4 sec. flat
Ahhh boys will be boys... what where we talking about again?
progression is good!
Though I like tails as well....
I dont think you cant go wrong with any of the options, they all look good.... But if I had to do it, It would be option 2 with dark clear sidemarkers.
Oooooowh you're not kidding...
I might as well be driving around in a car full of naked chicks, at least it would give the cops something to do
btw. thanks for the input
