Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I made the cut out larger and installed mesh to keep tire buggers from flying in there.
Leading evidence: 'Install mesh' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). I run GT3 front fender liners which helps with both cooling and front end stability because it directs the airflow into the the wheel well by sealing up the Carrera air flow hole that is in front of the tires, as well as removes the shroud that covers the side radiator fans which is what pushes the air down in front of the tires.

I have 996.1 C2 and want to do this mod over the winter, but have hard time on finding the right parts or part numbers based on the images being sold - all images I can find of these parts looks like Carrera fenderliners (new or used).

Lastly, I believe that Porsche made vented liners for later models, did you cut your own vents or use 997 or GT3 vented liners?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am considering added vented fender liners to my 996.1. For those of you that have installed vented fender liners, did you feel that there is a benefit? Is the greater benefit improved cooling or reduced lift? Lastly, I believe that Porsche made vented liners for later models, did you cut your own vents or use 997 or GT3 vented liners? Let me know your thoughts and experiences.
I run GT3 front fender liners which helps with both cooling and front end stability because it directs the airflow into the the wheel well by sealing up the Carrera air flow hole that is in front of the tires, as well as removes the shroud that covers the side radiator fans which is what pushes the air down in front of the tires.
The problem with the vented Carrera fender liners is that they do not seal up the hole in front of the tires. Sure. You can remove the rear fan shroud, but you still have to find a way to seal up the airflow hole. You will also need to cut a rectangular sized hole on the inner side of the Carrera fender liner for the airflow to more effectively exit into the wheel well.
here is a picture of the GT3 airflow.
Here is a picture of the Carrera airflow
Notice the red circle which outlines the airflow exit of a Carrera. The GT3 fender liners seal this up.
This is the Gt3 fender liner. Notice the rectangular cutout on the inside and even more importantly, a solid bottom of the fender liner which covers up the bottom exit hole.
you have to remove the rear shroud on the radiatio fan. This is what pushes the air down in front of the tires.
here is the carrera fender liner from the wheel well.
here is the GT3 fender liner. Notice the rectangular cut out that directs the air to the upper brake duct which then directs the air to the brakes.
an additional mod to make on the GT3 fender liner is to cut out the indented section of the fender liner for more airflow
hope it helps.
Great responce. I am also interested in this.

If u want to try and maximise cooling then cut out the indented area and skip the gt3 inner fender scoop. If u want brake cooling for the track dont cut it out, use the inner scoop. Also notice the gt3 liner has a naca duct formed into the bottom and it dumps air into the control arm scoop for brake cooling.
Could it be possible to get the part numbers for these GT3 fenderliner parts?

Thank you already for your help.
You can also use the GT2 fender liners. Just like the GT3 ones, they have a relief on the inboard side to allow air to flow over the brake ducts to the brake rotors for functional cooling. I made the cut out larger and installed mesh to keep tire buggers from flying in there. As mentioned before, you have to seal up the underside to force air through the fender liner and past the upper air ducts.
