This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I recently replaced the OAS on a 2001 996 Carrera Cabriolet Triptronic. In the process I lost a plastic adapter piece that connects to the driver-side manifold (air filter side of the manifold). I ended up ordering a new one. But shortly after I received the new one, I found the original part. The problem is that the replacement part I ordered for this car is different than what I pulled off of the manifold. I did some online research and it seems every picture shows the version of the part that matches the replacement one I ordered. I found one reference that indicated that two different versions of this part may have been used in 2001. It seems like I should be using "elbow" version of the part. Below is a picture of the replacement part. The original part (now on the car) has no elbow pipe, just the flat part of the piece, so it is basically a plug. So my questions: 1) Is my non-elbow-plugged setup normal/ok on this car? 2) If not, and I need to install the Elbow piece, where does it connect? Thanks Rob
