At this point, I will remove a flat section or part with the Boxster red paint, have the paint shop scan and match or at least a closer match to this car, and use solvent-based paint that doesn't come off when cleaning....the current purchased have been nothing but water-based acrylic paint similar to artists acrylics....and I have used artists acrylics to re-tint the purchased paint.

I dont think thats an option unless I wanted to replace pretty much all of the plastic pieces.

Ive been on the fence of doing carbon fiber or changing the vents and a few other pieces to black to give it a two tone look.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Good afternoon,
I looked in previous posts for touch up paint since theres a bit of black showing on the plastic from chipped paint. I saw it was recommended to use the LVP color bond. I used it, but you can definitely tell the difference between the two. Is there anything else recommended or is this the best its going to get?
I dont think thats an option unless I wanted to replace pretty much all of the plastic pieces. The dash has a good bit of chipping throughout and some side pieces.
You can find dash, door, side vents etc on ebay for pretty good prices and in good condition. Don't know how you would paint these parts to make them look decent.
Many of us have repainted center consoles and radio horse shoes with 996 exterior paint. If you go that route, try automotive touchup. These look good when done properly.

if you are looking to dye leather try Seat Doctors.

If you are looking fill in exterior paint chips try Dr. Colorchip.

Hope it helps.
FWIW, after you attempt to paint side vents and dash, and it doesn't look good, you will be looking for parts to buy on ebay. Do yourself a favor, save some headaches and money, and go to ebay and get what you need.
$40-50 for a tan side air vent.
However, the center console and radio horse shoe are very easy to sand, primer, paint and clear coat with the automotive touch up kit.
Just trying to save you some headaches, inevitable problems and money.
Post a picture of your interior. There are alot of guys in RL that can make suggestions on how to clean up your interior until you can find the right replacement parts for a good price.
Got to keep looking on ebay. I saw a few tan ones this morning.
You can also contact DC Automotive, LA Dismantlers, Specialized German directly or indirectly thru ebay which all deal in used Porsche parts.
Believe it or not, its pretty easy finding parts for the 996. Just takes a little effort and patience.

I tried this method last year on my Sav Beige painted interior plastic parts. It worked great. I got 1 pint each from HD and Lowes, did a sample test, and chose the better match. I spayed the easy-to-remove pieces after sanding, scuffing and feathering the chipped areas, and touched up the hard-to-remove chipped areas.
I have tried to find a match for the Boxster red color, but nothing I have purchased has ever matched because the chroma, hue, and values also change as these cars age making it an actual crap shoot. I've spent many years retouching photos for print reproduction before the digital age with an airbrush, so cueing up the old Pasche brush will become the method.... at least I can blend it better. I will report back sometime in the future if I succeed or fail.
Pictures as promised. Please let me know some good options I can have. Ive been on the fence of doing carbon fiber or changing the vents and a few other pieces to black to give it a two tone look. Still not sure though.
