I have a 996 cab with grey interior and grey top which after 7 years show the usual amount of wear on the canvas. I am thinking about replacing it and wondering if I want to change colors to a black top. Body color is seal grey. Would it look funny if the area behind the rear seats where the roll bars come up is grey and then the top is black? Does black fade or show stains any more/less than grey. Any thoughts are appreciated!

I would stay with the gray top. Black tops are a "dime a dozen" while gray tops are not all that common. However, should yo decide to "go black" (as it were ), I don't think the black top versus the gray area behind the seats would be an issue. Think about it. When the top is up, you don't see the gray area much unless you are in the car, and when the top is down, you wouln't see the black top.

The grey top is nice because it blends well with the body. I've never cared for contrasting tops (or dark windows), completely breaks-up the smooth lines of the car.

I think a black top would look great! Grey and Black? They go perfectly, but the grey top is pretty tasteful! Really it is up to you and YOUR taste.

A black top would look good and and the area behind the rollbar is fine in grey. The black will not fade if taken care of. By the way there are different color grey tops one of which has a fair amount of black in it and one that is straight grey. I switched one of my cabs to black and changed the grey on the other one.
