Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey all. I've had this problem twice before. Once over a year ago, before I knew not to wash the engine at all (BTW avoiding the connectors doesn't work, regardless what the Owner's manual said Then again a few weeks ago when it rained like cats and dogs and the car was sitting in it (I was at work). I came back later that night, limped it home, and the next day it was fine. That time the eletrical connector to the engine had the boot covering it come off (so water got in). This time though... out in the rain (again at work), but no loose connector covers.... So what do you think? It would be nice if it could handle rainstorms (it gets driven year round, even in snow, but does this when it sits through a downpour) TIA!

+1 on cracked coil packs

POST 4Original post

Yes, if the intake ingests rain from an aftermarket etc it will temp choke. All clears up.... If persists, check coils plugs etc......

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you all! I truly appreciate it. I'll be taking it to the Dealer and want to have some idea of whats going on...

Same thing happened with mine and that's exactly what it was.

POST 7Original post

Highly likely it's just the coil packs. Pull the codes, it will tell you which cylinders. If you do coils, also do plugs while you're in there, and make sure they check for any sealing issues for good measure

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'll be taking it in to the Dealer. How much do you think it will cost? Just getting an idea what is reasonable, my Dealer has been pretty straight with me but its still good to know. Thanks again for your experiences/knowledge in this area, much appreciated
