Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

replaced the gearbox under warranty at 45k, other than that it was relatively faultless.

The car never had any engine troubles, sans a bad alternator that was replaced when I had the car for 6 months.

I change the oil every 10k miles with Mobil-1 0w-40 and this time I will not only change the oil but change out my spark plugs, air filter and drive belt.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I just hit the 60k mark and I wonder who else has a higher mileage 911. The car's been great thus far. I've only had it in the shop a few times for very minor repairs that were covered under warranty.
I change the oil every 10k miles with Mobil-1 0w-40 and this time I will not only change the oil but change out my spark plugs, air filter and drive belt. Plus Ill probably go ahead and flush the brake fluid and coolant since its been 2 years since I last did those.
I can only hope my car is as reliable for the next 60k miles as it has been the 1st 60k miles.
my '00 996 had over 95k miles when i sold it last month. replaced the gearbox under warranty at 45k, other than that it was relatively faultless. i'm driving an '05 volvo s60 as stop-gap till the 997 arrives. compared to a volvo, the 996 is easiler to park, and is actually roomier with more storage compartments for day-to-day use--i miss her!
I know you said high mileage but what the hell, here's mine anyway: 15,500. Now that wife has a new job that requires commuting, my daily commuter now becomes the good ol'Eleven! Might even hit 25,500 by the time we close this year out!
I think your comparison to roominess is way off the mark. No way a '00 is roomier than an S60. You could park half the Porsche in the S60's trunk alone. I know because I have one of each...but no matter...let us know how you like the 997 when it comes in...I have my eye on one right now and I think I might take the plunge...good luck when you get her...
No worries at all. The car never had any engine troubles, sans a bad alternator that was replaced when I had the car for 6 months.
I have 20,000 miles on my 2004... I'll run it until the engine falls out... then I'll drop some serious pony's in her!
the 996 has more head room, leg room, superior storage in the doors, consol and armrest. mcuh better outward visibility (especially backing up). yeah, the volvo has a better trunk, but it should! the s60 is great, goes pretty good w/ the low-pressure turbo--no complaints there--and its great value! book says 30 mpg on the hwy, have yet to reach it.
I'm like the rest of you... drive the crap out of it, it depreciates w/ or w/o miles on it! So if you have 100,000 miles on a car and lose $20K in the selling price vs. the same car w/ 20,000 miles you're doing much better because the $$ per mile ratio has been good. You buy a 2005 and in two years have 3K miles on her and sell it you're still taking a hit... who did better??? I say drive!
I have a friend with a 993 TT with over 70K miles and it looks and runs great. The car is 9 years old and unfortunatley for me, my friend has no intention of selling it. I've been pestering him about selling his car to me for the last 2 years. Based on my friend's car, the 993 TT seems to be bulletproff.
65,000 miles.........zero problems. I let the dealer do the 30k service, which was a rip off. I have done everything else myself. Just put new front brake pads in.......
The S60 AWD that I had for 6-7 months had a decent driving position, a decent engine and was a decent car for the money. That was its porblem, it was just decent; quite fast though...
I have had my 996 for a year now. runs great, perfect everyday car. Love it. No issues. It has 45k kms and I will keep it until 70k kms.
Would I buy again. YES.
98 996 72K miles just purchased but seems well cared for.........
will use it daily and not worried about the miles, hey it was meant to be driven
