Also, I find it incredibly hard to believe that no one has come up with a way to use an actual PC laptop with some software and a link and do everything Porsche's laptop did.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey everyone, question for you... does anyone know if there is an alternative to Porsche's $10,000 laptop to access the OBD-II system in newer Porsches? I've heard from, i guess a source that I don't really trust, that there is no alternative if you want it to access every functions and do more than just read a few fault codes. I noticed pelican sells one or two OBD-II code readers, but I'm not sure what functions they'll access Also, I find it incredibly hard to believe that no one has come up with a way to use an actual PC laptop with some software and a link and do everything Porsche's laptop did. If anyone knows anything about this I'd really appreciate any answers. Thanks Andrew
