Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'Use on this site' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use on this site' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I was never planing on aero'ing my nb. I like the way it looks and I love the lifting spoiler...
but I have an opportunity to buy a turbo bumper and a MASHAW gt2 wing for pretty cheap (<1k for both) which is very tempting...
I know the 2 sort of mismatch... And I have no clue what to do about skirts....
What do you think? would you go down this route or not? would the result be akin to a frankenporsche?
any input would be great!
thanks
this is a quick pic of my nb right now (did I say stock?)
I just posted a rear deck and GT3 spoiler on my "Official found this on ebay" thread.
for me
FACTORY AERO !!!
I dont think the turbo bumper will fit your car and the GT2 wing,.......how long have you known me???????
I have considered the same thing aero or no aero....on a 99 NB. The problem is I do not want the frankenstein aftermkt look either. To me there are only 2 options to consider. Factory Aero, which looks like you do not like or a complete body redo like 996 to 997 look with wide body fenders front/rear. But I come to the same stinkin conclusion everytime.....too much money to sink into a sinking value car that in 3 more years may be in the 10-13k range. Better off to save for a real Wide Body TT IMHO
Life's short. Do what you want with no regrets.
If you're concerned about resale value and potentially limiting your future buyer base with mismatched bits, then toss your old parts in the attic so you can put the car back to stock when you want to sell it.
Cheers,
I just put MK1 skirts and a Techart II wing on my 01. The wing can be removed and the skirts are correct for the year. Life is too short! Make it yours!
ok.... make up my mind. GT2 looks too heavy for me so Ill pass even though its a steal. turbo bumper +mkII skirts for me. dont know what wing I'll do yet...
+++1!
It is your car and you shouldn't worry too much about what other folks think as long as the look makes you happy (like mine does...) What some would call "FrankenPorsche" I call personalized, which is one of the really great thing about 996s anyway... and it ain't a dog show, so there aren't any standards... the variations are limited to your taste and the taste of people whose opinions you care about (wives, for example...) If we cared too much about the way our cars looked, we would have to concede that the 993 guys were right (not in my lifetime...)
Knock yourself out and have fun with it! (I did...)
Rudy
After owning a non-aero 996 for 2 1/2 years, I'd search out an aero 996 next time...I've been converted, but I don't think you should be limited to OEM parts.
Why wouldn't the turbo bumper fit?
the GT2 wing is just too wide, it looks silly even on widebodies.
BTW this is my favorite aftermarket wing, only issue aside from the price is the engine compartment doesn't open all the way once mounted (at least on the version for rear wiper, how is it on yours? full access?)
looks great on cabs too
The "cab" aero wing looks great on coupes, my favorite OEM wing
Thanks for the kind words Gents!
The spoiler extension I have is from Orciari of Italy. They have a local dealer in FL where I ordered mine from 4 years ago.

I think I paid $800 with shipping for it.
The finish is the best of all the aftermarket I have seen. I had a top rate(meaning he does Concours quality work..not a trace of dust specs) paint shop paint mine and he took off $200 in labor estimate because he said its finished like OEM piece where there's no need for sanding/smoothing. He just primed and painted it with hi-flexible paint.
Good luck..

too wide IIRC - or is that only the back end? - shoot you guys know better than to listen to me about body parts......
any one need a beer while I am up?
My wing is for sale! Here are some pics of that and front bumpers:

Sigh, 1700 miles when I bought it (factory turbo bumper):
When I purchased my 996 the Aero was an absolute must have. Here are some pics of the various wheels I've had on the car over the past few years. My current wheels are the DPE mesh wheels, size 18".
