Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, To check to see if the radiator fans are working, all I have to do is drive the car to normal temp and then turn the AC to Max? both sides should come on right? also, i am going to complete the radiator fan mod, do I have to disconnect the battery for pluging in the wires to the rely? Thanks for the help.

POST 2Original post

The radiator fans are two stage. The fans always go to stage two (fast) when the the AC is on. Switch-on conditions for coolant or condenser blower motors Stage 1 is switched on when the coolant temperature is > 100 C or there is an AC demand, the intake air temperature is > 8 C and terminal 15 is switched on. Stage 2 is switched on when the coolant temperature is > 105 C or the refrigerant pressure is > 16 bar

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks loren, you are everywhere... but i have noticed that my temp is in between the "0", it was never that high before (even in city), Am I correct that maybe one of the fans has stopped working? (coolant level is ok, filled it up with water recently and has not dropped).....I opened the coolant cap and pressure was released so there is no leak.....

POST 4Original post

Both fans should run at high speed with the AC on (the fans are two stage). So if one is not running then perhaps you have a blown fuse (C8 or C10) or you could have a bad ballast resister. The fan motor is usually the last thing to check.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

what about the relay switch? i have been reading and reading, do i need to do something with that? Is changing the ballast resister a DIY?
