Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

16 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

After driving a car with Xenons (My 03 G35 coupe). I want them on my 99' C4 which did not come with them. I was under the impression that it had Xenons because it has the clear lenses all the way around. I would have definitely already swapped out the entire headlights to clears with Xenons if I had the amber head lights. What are the thoughts out there about going the Hid bulb route? Will some high quality bulbs like PIAAs give me both the look and better night time visibility of Xenons? Or do I need to just bite the bullet and pay for the Porsche Bi Xenons? Which bulbs are closest to the real thing?

POST 2Original post

The bulbs are brighter, but still dose not have the HID look. Bite the bullet.

POST 3Original post

I tried some Sylvania Silverstar bulbs, they were ok but nowhere near HIDs , still appeared yellow next to the Bimmer's HIDs. These bulbs were stock wattage, I would stay away from any super hot bulbs, you'll fry the light housing. I bit the bullet and have some Litronics from Foreign Affairs.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks. I won't bother with the bulbs. You think I could sell my OEM clear headlights? E

POST 5Original post

I wouldn't, just keep 'em as spares in case some assh*le steals your Litronics.

POST 6Original post

I don't have litronics, but have been thinking about biting the bullet myself. Are they prone to getting stolen? I noticed on eBay that there was this one guy (from the SF area) who sold 4 pairs of Porsche Litronics in 1 month. In his ad, he kept stating that they were his used Litronics.

POST 7Original post

has anyone tried to buy"used" litronics from a salvage car...ie oklahoma salvage etc????

POST 8Original post

Call LA Porsche in the San Fernando valley. They always seem to have them and will give you trade-in $$ for your old ones...

POST 9Original post

A simple bulb swap can't touch the light output of HID's. Believe me, I tried.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks ZeeZee. I'll call them to get a quote. E

POST 11Original post

I've a 8000K H7 HID kit with my C2, it was super bright and toward purple to blue colour compare to factory litronics or BMW and Audi factory HID. It was about $300-$400 depends on brand, I have them with my car for 2 years and don't have any problem. But the only thing is you won't have the projector in your light.

POST 12Original post

hey 996, Could you please post some pics of yoru headlights or at least pm to me. I was thinking about doing that but dind't know how they looked. Alos could you tell me where you got it from and what kind you got. I heard that cheaper ballasts give out quickly. Bobby

POST 13Original post

The G35 Coupe comes with Reflector Xenons. I dont really like them. I would much rather have projector style like the Litronics. BTW what color is you G Coupe??

POST 14Original post

Difference is like night and day. I tried brighter bulbs on my old 996 C2 and have Xenons on my 996TT. No comparison!
