Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

O-Ring seal is really common and is something that was replaced on my car by the dealer also before they certified it.
Leading evidence: 'Replace o-ring seal is really common and is something' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean 's all it needs' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Will post final results after I send it in to have it 'cleaned up'...fingers crossed that cleaning's all it needs!

IF THE LEAK IS AT THE REAR OF THE CAR(BETWEEN THE MUFFLERS)IT COULD BE THE SEAL AT THE CRANK PULLEY,OR POSSIBLY THE O-RING AT THE OIL PUMP HOUSING.I'VE PERSONALLY REPLACED 2 OF THESE O-RINGS.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Brought my 99 C2 tip for some minor brake work.
The mechanic hoisted up the car and made a visual inspection - he noticed very minor oil seepage in the flat area between the 2 mufflers directly below the engine (sorry don't know how else to describe it!). He put it down in his report to me as "minor oil seepage from oil sump - to clean up".
Anyone knows if this could be the RMS problem? A little worried. Thanks in advance for any help.
Could it be the cam-covers that are leaking-this is common on the 996- It doesn't sound like the RMS as its at the interface between the engine and the transmission. If you want to have a look, jack the car up and the RMS is roughly in-line with front side of the rear wheel arches-there is a metal brace which runs underneath it. I have been a bit worried about the RMS, but the service manager at Porsche told me it was " bone dry" two days ago. My car has travelled 46,000 Kms. (98 996 Coupe Arena Red)
I had my 996 in and the mechanic noticed oil around the oil pan cover. It was replaced under warranty because the mech. said it was "defective" and oil was seeping thru the bolts even tho they had been tigthened to spec. I told him I wanted to look at it (to take a pic), but when I came back it was "unavailable". They said it had already been picked up and it was on it's way to the factory. Yeah, right..they just didn't want me to see it for some reason..
Anyway, the replacement stopped the seepage.

O-Ring seal is really common and is something that was replaced on my car by the dealer also before they certified it. The way you describe the leak, it sounds like it may be the O-Ring seal. If it is that, its not serious...
