I know that ther should be no way of opening these units but is there a "trick" on perhaps how to pull this one off DIY style, to clean the lenses?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Guys, Living in the Middle East means plenty of dust and sand and my headlight lenses are now starting to show that dust has entered the headlight units and gotten on the inside of the lenses. Car is a 2000 model with the first generation headlights. I know that ther should be no way of opening these units but is there a "trick" on perhaps how to pull this one off DIY style, to clean the lenses? Any suggestions are appreciated. Ciao, Johannes E.

POST 2Original post

Mr. C4, Unfortunately, according to my service manager at Porsche, these headlights are a sealed unit. One of mine had some sort of fungus growing inside. Its not getting any bigger, but there's nothing I can do about it.

POST 3Original post

I would try vacuuming out the dust. Remove the headlight, then remove only the turn signal bulb and insert the vacuum nozzle into the opening. You should be able to get most of the dust out. I did this to remove some particles that got left inside the headlight when I was removing the amber reflectors, and was able to get rid of all of them this way. If you have dust in other compartments of the headlight, remove the bulb for that compartment only and proceed as above.

Oggie, Thanks, I'll give it a try! Ciao, Johannes E.
