This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

The only additional parts would be fluids and I would replace the clutch plate and check the flywheel.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey, I was just reading some of the posts on the 993 forum, and apparently, Porsche has recently increased the prices on many of their parts - including the 996. It was mentioned that perhaps it has to do with the fact that it is no longer a "current" model. Does anyone have experience with this to confirm or deny. Someone said the price of a rebuilt 996 motor had increased from 8000 to 17000. Not sure if there is any validity to this statement or not?

POST 2Original post

Hi Jeff, I just purchased a remanufactured 996 and the price in July was $6,700 and now it's up to $8,200 that's an average from calling 6 dealers Brandywine in Florida did quote $7,400. Sunset my be lower yet. The labor to install are 16 Hours at an average of $110.00 per hour here in NY. The only additional parts would be fluids and I would replace the clutch plate and check the flywheel. But $17,000 could be a NEW engine not remanufactured. I was told porsche adjusts prices every 3 months.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
