but thikn about it: the 996TT motor is a direct drop in (especially if you have E-Gas) and ive seen used motors/tranny combos for as low as 20-25 grand canadian.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

16 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

For those of you who have already "outgrown" your EVOMS superchargers 996TT Motor on Ebay

POST 3Original post

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't that seller have a questionable history among the P-car community?

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

i believe so...not recommending anyone buy off ebay (hell i don't think i would..especially since he doesn't seem to take paypal/visa)... but thikn about it: the 996TT motor is a direct drop in (especially if you have E-Gas) and ive seen used motors/tranny combos for as low as 20-25 grand canadian. add an aftermarket ECU and stuff and you're looking at what ? 30 g's? chip it, exhaust get the motor upto like 550-600HP in a really lightweight, and RWD C2, and you'd have a bullit!

POST 5Original post

don't you need special tranny, etc. to support the TT power?

POST 7Original post

I have a motor from an 2003 car with less than 5K miles on it. Has the wiring harness and only needs a DME. If someone is seriously considering to install this motror in their NA 996, I will step up and help out with the project. Remember, you have to change the tranny as well. Theo

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

greek, send me the info and price on this because i was considering doing this swap later on.

POST 10Original post

This would not be a hell of a project. It would be the project from Hell

POST 11Original post

Not really. It depends on who is doing the install and what kind of experience they have with " special " Porsche projects. When the ground work is well planned, i.e. all parts for install, additional modifications to car, it doesn't turn out so bad. Theo

POST 12Original post

Or you could sell your C2 and take your money plus 30 g's and buy a used TT.

POST 13Original post

your not trading in your wife when you want bigger....skinnier you know whats??? Are you??? So if your baby needs a bigger engine....more power...you give it that!! Ofcourse I am being sarcastic...I would trade mine in and put the money in a TT.....doesn't the turbo also has different shocks?? and other TT specific parts and setups??

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

^ shocks and whatnot can be adapted (revalved pss9's) and ubermensch, if i can sell my car and parts for 60 something grand, i will put a diposit on the GT3 RS or a 996GT2. i really really don't fell like going to a 4WD. But for those who have bought a 996 C2 for cheap enuff, a turbo engine swap may be a cost effective and crazy project worth doing.

POST 15Original post

Would there be any market to sell a 996 C2TT though? -Keith

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

^ serious projects are usually undertaken when resale isn't an isssue, when its a car you're going to keep till the wheels fall off, pass on to your kids, or refresh and beat on it again
