Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

So, my question would be what is the max tire size that the 8.5Jx18 will accomodate on a 996 narrow body, and then use the 295/30 on the 11Jx18.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just got a set of new wheels. The rears are 11wide by 18. Anyone know what's the best size tire for these? 295x30? Thanks!

POST 2Original post

295/30 was the standard factory fitment for 996 11J x 18 wheels. 315/30 for 996 12J x 18.

POST 4Original post

295 30 is good, we run that on the 19x11 actually. you can even go 305/30 or 25. I can check on exact model sizes for you... email me.

POST 5Original post

The 996 Cab with standard US suspension has significant understeer with stock front-rear wheel/tire width staggers. Increasing the stagger will only exacerbate the annoying understeer. I would go with the widest front tire for the matching front rim (8.5Jx18) of the set, and the narrowest rear tire to minimize the understeer designed into the factory US suspension (or upgraded suspension for that matter). So, my question would be what is the max tire size that the 8.5Jx18 will accomodate on a 996 narrow body, and then use the 295/30 on the 11Jx18. YMMV.
