i don't think i was going that fast but it was the breakneck acceleration that led him to believe i was

Suggestion · Original poster
In talking to Todd/Mike I believe that it has been done but I would have to check tomorrow.

Suggestion
If I wanted 10's, I would strip the car like you suggest, replace the front wheels with narrows, cable strap the suspension to provide more weight trasnfer on takeoff, install a live power feed to the variocam keeping the lift high at all times, remove 1 1/2 gallons of coolant from the system (saves 12 pounds), ice up the aftercooler system (or methane and water spray), remove side mirrors, carpet, remove A/C, freewheel the alternator, empty window washer, remove wipers, and on and on and on.

Suggestion
I have not had any issues with the old hoses other than a loose hose clamp on one car that popped off on my test drive, so i would say no.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Although the 3.4L's don't make "quite" as much power as the 3.6Ls with the super charger, I really do like the non-Egas throttle response on these. I wish all the cars were non-Egas but that's another story. I had a blast testing this one out tonight and with some PSS9s and wider BBS RS-GT wheels it handles pretty darn well too. Has a few other things like the B&M SSK, Fabspeed Exhaust and headers...
I'm liking these so much that I'm considering the shop having one. Would make for an awesome daily d and the price is so darn low these days. We've done and driven a good few super charged 3.6L cars and I know they're now proven to be 11.8 @ 122 in the 1/4 and I just don't think the 3.4Ls are that far off. I'll have to go try it out for sure but my guess is maybe an 11.9 @ 120.
Alex, if you have the LSD option, it makes for a better performing car that the egas ones. I agree with you that egas sucks and if I had egas in a performance gar, that would be the first thing that be changed. You won't find it difficult to get the 99 C2 to turn mid to low 11's, safely and consistantly. (UNCORRECTED). What do you have your rev limiter set at?
Hey AC... no I was referring to the car
I know aftermarket parts are not cheap and I do stand behind the EVO kit having done many of them now but it depends on the perspectiv. It's not cheap per se but then again it's 40% of the RuF one
You are so right about that. I know I sound like an old fart (I'm only 30 dammit) but I really hate E-Gas on these cars. Just feels false to me... With an LSD, smaller pulley and good tires, I think I could get a mid 11. The coupe is 2960 stock right? I figued I could easily drop 250 out of it...
Rev limiter is 7K on this one.
Yeah, just dump the spare and drink a few less beers before track day, and you'll be good to go. Stay away from the 19 inch wheel, too. Underinflated, good stock tires will get you there. 50psi in the front.
Haha... I _hate_ 19s. Never ever would I even dream of running or let along drag racing on 'em
I was thinking more about BFG heh....
I'd take out the seats, rear tail motor etc... get lighter wheels, 2 piece rotors, nuke the spare and kit, remove the front and rear 5mph crap... Hmm light weight battery:P
There is no doubt that lightening up the car will acheive much better numbers, but I prefer to keep the car the way I could drive it around the country, while still maintaining it's awesome performance. (other than changing tire pressues).

However, that wouldn't make much of a daily driver.
a '99 is supposed to be 2919# but probably w/o fluids and bare bones-no options.
rip out the speakers/stereo (will be doing soon
), sunroof delete, carbon hood, carbon decklid wing, remove the sound insulation and of course the spare tire. what else?
wish i had an LSD after fishtailing onto the freeway the other day (cold and damp).
here's more of sharkwerks handywork. sorry for the dirty engine bay, this car is no queen
.
See I need that. Somebody NEEDS to reel me in. Before I even have a 99 C2 that's super charged I'm already talking about taking it from Daily D comfort status to dropping 300 pounds. OK so backwards I go. I think it would be high 11 second car daily D pretty easily
I am already looking around for one...
That magic lil red tube strikes again!:P
Thanks Carlos, James and I were talking about yours a lot and also Robert C's cab... Both of those cars really slapped us in the face and it'd be good for the shop and for us to have an NA 996 3.4L to show case stuff. Ahem.. more importantly have an awesome daily D too. The 996TT is so darn fast now that it's just a big stress to slam the throttle. It's loud (when you're on it), fast and gets to crazy speeds...
the SC get to fast speeds quick too. got on the throttle in 4th to overtake and bam i see the flashing lights. CHP said i was going close to 100 but let me off w/ 80+ phew! i don't think i was going that fast but it was the breakneck acceleration that led him to believe i was
now i need a slower car
Heh... the customers are corrupting the shop-staff again:P I've been scouring Craigslist all day and over lunch James and I were already talking about what we're gonna do.
LSD on yours round turns- yummy.
Actually you're right. It's deceptively quick... Because of the way it comes on (being smoother) I don't realize how fast I'm going in those too. Did you tell him you were on your way to the track:P?
hmmm..... the list for the '99 you will find:
evo supercharger
10PSI w/beefed up bottom end and heads
water meth
2002+ headlight conversion
TA bumper
misha wing
carbon hoods
motons/erp links
race seats
roll bar/cage
LSD/quaife
accusump
18" bling/race wheels
wait... this is my list
ROFL... Funny thing is that actually happened to me too. He saw my roll bar and harnesses and even the shoe polished numbers and said "OK keep it under three digits please and go home. You've obviously had a good day at the track now knock it off"....
Hi Eric,
Personally James and I have not done that yet here. We've done flashes, intakes, headers and exhaust systems on those and had better than your average 3.6L results obviously... In talking to Todd/Mike I believe that it has been done but I would have to check tomorrow. I remember them talking about it last summer etc... Just like the other mods we've done your car is only better equipped to handle them. The only difference in the Super Charger kit for your car would be some additional tuning. Just software basically
Thanks, Alex. The 40th is a great car and just like every Porsche nut I'm looking at getting more power for it. Right now it's sitting on PSS9's with a nice alignment. The rest of the car is stock and comfy.
I'll get more info for you on that SC later but with PSS9s that car will handle perfectly on the street. Good choice... I'd say whatever you end up doing, complimenting what you already have is a good idea. A lot of the time we end up putting on headers, mufflers and/or an intake/flash to get an additional 30HP. Most of the time that's "enough"... When it isn't, it's not like you can't use all of those parts anyways
PS I wish in stock form they weren't so quiet.

Jumpin' in late, but I thought you were talking about my car for a while. 99 C2 w/LSD, EVO supercharger, PSS9's, no Egas, Fabspeed.... yeah, that's my baby. It's my daily driver, and my track car as well. I love it. The only "bad" thing (which is bad for the track, but good everywhere else) is that it's a cab, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Even with that extra 165 lbs for the folding top (or something like that), plus the weight of the Tequipment roll bar, it still blows by the 3.6 N/A coupes on the track. And when the track day is over, I put the top down and enjoy the sun and breeze as I go home. Highly recommended!
=Carlos= (with a "C")
Carlos, I know what you mean. One of my favorite cars is this blue SC'd cab that we did and the owner tracks it all the time. It's a great car in all senses...

Sweet, I'll share....
Don't ask about the lettering on the tail, lol. 3.4L
Put out a 3.4L and a 3.6L first 2 weeks of January:
The 3.6L will...lets see....what was the term i heard the other day from a guy with a restored El Camino......
oh yes...."It'll flat git it."
The 3.6L had the new hoses, which is definitely a better solution to the old ones. Makes pulling things in and out a lot easier. I would imagine by the time the next 3.4 rolls in here it will have the updated hoses as well (crosses fingers)
PorscheDoc-
I take care of that 3.6L car locally. My customer brought it in as soon as he got it back. Very nice driver. If only I could get him to do something about those chrome wheels. You guys do very nice work.
Lol, yea chrome rims are kinda of a hit and miss depending on the car, i think some darker rims would look great on that car. It is a very nice car as well.
For those that are wondering about the reliability, John flew into Kansas City, picked up the car on a friday afternoon, and drove straight back to the chicago area. Had fun the whole way back from the sound of it.
They are an improved soft hose design that makes the install a little less painful. I have not had any issues with the old hoses other than a loose hose clamp on one car that popped off on my test drive, so i would say no.
