Quick comment from a guy who has 996s running on 17s, 18s, and 19s......75% of "look" and 'filling out the wheel-well' has nothing to do with wheel size........that 75% is 1.) suspension ride height and 2.) offset.

First 2 things I mess-with on any new car are.........suspension (for performance, height, rake)......and wheel offset (use spacers if I have to temproarily) then order the 'right' offset.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Do you guys recommend 19" or 20" wheels on a 996 C2?
Do I have to lower my car for it to look good with 19" or 20" wheels? I dont want it to look like a 4x4 with bigger wheels on it.
Stick with 18" wheels. The 996 was not designed for 19" wheels although there are a lot of aftermarket 19" wheels available from Ruf, Cargraphic, and others. I don't think 20" wheels will fit -- you would have to roll the fenders A LOT.
For 20's, you'll probably have to cut the fenders out
. But 19's are do able but only for bling purposes and the 18's are just right for the 996_bling and performance, the best of both world.
I have beenthrough several problem due to kerbed front wheel,
a friend of mine did borrow me a set of 19 inch ruf alloys....
imust say that car now has problems with a verry annoying tamlinning....
stick with the 18.....
much better....
and on the other hand difference between 17 Vs 18 is hudge...
it isn't though that big between 18 Vs 19....

These are almost always #1 and #2......... of 45
