Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I don't post as much here as I do on FunCarsOnline.com or 6Speedonline.com, but I frequent this board just as often. If you visit those other boards, you may have seen my thread regarding our new friends who are a family we 'adopted' when they escaped to Houston from Katrina's wrath on New Orleans. The original thread is here: Katrina thread on FunCarsOnline.com I'm posting this as a request to those on this board who want to help... I'm pasting below the line an email that I'm distributing to my friends, church, and coworkers. Since many of you are 'virtual' friends, I thought I'd come here for help too.... Please consider giving to help this family..... ========================================== As many of you know, my wife, Jodi, and I took a family into our home who had to evacuate New Orleans. We didnt know them, but heard about them through a friend of a friend of a friend, and so on. It is a single mom with 2 teenage daughters and an 8 year old boy. They left their home behind and took some clothes, essentials, and a few things that were irreplaceable. Their house was flooded beyond the roof top after they left. The mother, Julie, is an executive assistant by trade, but doesnt know if shell have her job to return to after things settle there. As you can imagine, this has put them in a state of limbo. Not having a permanent base and not knowing where theyre going to live is very stressful. The next step is to get a place to set up shop in Houston while they determine if they are going to relocate to Texas or stay here temporarily. Julies job may be there in a few months, but shes unsure of that, and even if it is there, shes unsure of whether to return. The immediate needs are for the kids need to return to school, and get Julie back in the work force to earn an income to support her family. Julie is looking for work here in town and has some leads that look promising. Last weekend, we spent a lot of time searching for housing that will support Julie, her 3 kids, and her parents for several months while they gather their situation and determine where their permanent residence will be. We have shopped apartments and rental housing. Finding a location that will house their family, provide good schools for the kids, and locate them in a decent area is a challenge given their current budget. Julie doesnt want her kids to go through another move while in this school year, so they will remain in Houston long enough to take them through May of 2006. The good news: we located several rental homes that will do 9 month leases and house their family. Each is large enough to accommodate all their needs including good schools and room for the grand parents. The schools are Fort Bend ISD, and the area has many other families with similar aged children. This will provide a sense of normalcy again (for the kids in particular) and allow the family to determine their long term plans. Also, its not far from our home, so Jodi and I can continue to provide support where possible. The challenge we face is that the cost of the housing on average is several hundred dollars more a month than they can afford. They plan on being there for a minimum of 9 months, so Jodi and I are seeking support to cover that gap. In total, weve set a goal of $2000. We are asking for a financial donation to help. Any amount is acceptable. I know requests such as these are coming from everywhere, but now is a time to help our neighbors who truly need it. Your donation can be sent directly to Jodi and me or you can donate through NuVoice Ministries. By going through NuVoice, you will be able to write this off as a charitable donation on your income taxes. Mail your check to <PM ME> In the memo line put, Katrina. If you want to go through NuVoice, make the check out to NuVoice Ministries. Send the check to our address above and Ill pass it along to Nuvoice. Make sure you put Katrina in the memo line. If you have any questions regarding NuVoice, email Duane Miller at: [email removed] or call [phone removed]. POST 2Original post

Right on, Scott! Allow me to buy you a Rennlist Membership as a token of support for your generosity.

POST 3Original post

Jenn and John refused to allow me to pay for your Membership and granted you Membership gratis. They suggested I apply that amount to the NuVoice fund, as I shall. Is it just me, or is this forum kinda indifferent to this issue?

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That's awesome. Thanks to all of you. This forum may seem indifferent, but a lot of the people who are members here have donated when I posted this on other Porsche forums. Also, I know this late in the game, a lot of folks have already given generously through other channels. The generosity I've seen so far has been amazing. I have been literally moved to tears by some people's gifts and help. What a great country we live in!
