Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The part that makes this difficult is changing the fenders to match the new headlight shape.
Leading evidence: 'Replace fenders' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace fenders' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

To try to make a long story short...
My wife's new (to us) '03 Boxster S arrived to our island via Matson Navigation damaged. Some genius decided to use a grinder or welder or cut-off torch overhead while in their care and BURNED the beautiful black paint job with thousands of hot chunks of metal, including the headlights, windshield, etc... I am in the process of getting estimates to completely restore the car which will include new Litronic/Xenon headlights, etc... The guys I want to use are quite high and the only other place I can even get an estimate from of course is low. I'm going to try to negotiate their number up as Matson will obviously pay on the lower #.
Anyway, onto why I brought up front ends...
I am toying with the idea of donating my Litronic headlights from my 996 towards the restoration and seeking to do an "updated" front end with the newer headlights, fenders and turbo bumper. I just love the look. Honestly, if I could have afforded a C4S I would have bought one. I think it is one of the most beautiful Porsches ever made.
So turbo bumpers are really not all that expensive and fairly easy to come by. The lights are reasonable as I've been doing quite a bit of shopping. The part that makes this difficult is changing the fenders to match the new headlight shape. I have seen fenders at L.A. Porsche Dismantler for $200 each. I know they are available elsewhere, but there will be quite a bit of work to finish the project. The guys that will be doing the work on our Boxster S will be perfect for this project as well if I go for it. I have been thinking of a turbo look bumper to fit my early 996 headlights for quite some time and I would have to get that painted anyway - along with side skirts and rear turbo-style bumper.
What do you guys think? Is this an insane idea? Is the conversion that difficult? Is it going to cost me an arm and two legs in bodywork/paint to do this? Will it cost tremeandously more than opting for the turbo bumper to fit my early style headlights and just buying lights to fit the Boxster?
Remember, I still have to sell this idea to my wife...
