Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Looking to buy litronics through a private seller, but I wanted to know if I need any wires/cables for the install. From the looks of it, it is just the headlight unit. Are there any wires/cables needed to complete the install? Is it a plug-n-play installation? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, jon

POST 2Original post

OEM system uses a height sensor or sensors which will require extra wiring throughout. Porsche aftermarket system is simpler but still has a "level" sensor inside the bonnet. THird party aftermarket could be a nightmare.

POST 3Original post

For pre-2003... (ONLY) aftermarket litronics usually come with a wiring harness and a small controller box. But don't fret. it's really easy to install. I've installed 4 sets (for friends) with the harness but yes they can be plug and play. In fact I did plug and play on my wife's boxster with no wiring (lazy). What you don't get if you don't install the wiring... The lights will not raise when you switch to high beam. Raising the high beams adds fill to the low beams. There is no automatic leveling for any aftermarket litronics

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks. That's exactly what I needed to know. Cheers

POST 5Original post

Note - I am told that the Porsche kit only works on cars up to end including the 2002 model year. Newer cars are not plug and play. I want to install a set on my wife's 2004 and I'm told it involves a lot of fiddling with the wiring harness.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That's correct. At least from what I've heard as well. Luckily for me, I have a pre-02 car, so the aftermarket OEM kit will do just fine...

POST 7Original post

I added the Porsche litronics (bought from a board sponsor during a sale) and they are totally plug and play. The wiring that came with I didn't even care to use and ended up giving away to another member over on the Renntech board.
