Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, my dad has a 12K mile C4S Cab that is perfect except for a ride that he feels is too harsh. I'm recommending to him that he looks at either swapping in some B6 (or even B4?) Bilsteins keeping everything else stock, or perhaps some Koni Special Active. I've heard that it can be tough to keep the SAs "out of the bumpstops" on cars with low travel, so these might not be ideal. Any folks out there who have only gone to b6? Any other experience? BTW ride height is fine for him. No desire to change.

POST 3Original post

I have B6's on my 996. To me the ride is not harsh at all. Just my two cents...

POST 4Original post

If he has the original shocks in it, then B6 won't improve the ride but B4 (being the same as fitted at the factory, it's said) might. The current ones would have to be leaking for new ones to make a noticable difference, though. First check should be whether the auxiliary springs (often called bumpstops but they're more than that) are sound. If the original springs are fitted the a swap for Koni actives will work. Best to call a Koni rep for the exact advice.

POST 5Original post

Stock is 18" and smallest possible due to the carry-over 996 turbo brakes on the C4S. More comfortable tyres is good advice. Porsche points out the character of their N-marked tyres in their sales literature.

I'm running pillowy Conti DWS06s in 18s on my 997S/SPASM, so -- I agree. But, he's quite clear that he's keeping his baller Apex wheels (18s, I think). He bought some Koni Special Actives yesterday and is going to DIY. Will be very interesting to see how they work out. Thanks all. Will report back if there's interest.
