Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I don't know if insurance automatically replaces bumper covers or tries to patch them up.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Decided to take a day off from the intensive job hunting that I've been doing for the last 12 months and head down to Atlantic City for some poker. Traveling at a good clip (speed limit is 65 mph) on the Garden State Parkway about 3 miles north of exit 98 and my radar detector sounds, so I merge into the right lane behind a truck. After the alarm clears, I accelerate and merge left to pass. As soon as I clear the back of the truck, I see a plastic Adirondack-type deck chair in the middle of the left lane, and tried to swerve around it toward the shoulder. There just wasn't enough time and it hit my front bumper on the passenger side. My move may have been too aggressive for that speed and I drifted sideways a bit, but never lost control. I was probably saved by PSM and the brand new tires I have on the car. And maybe by my mad AutoCross skills
The bumper cover is cracked in a couple of places but otherwise intact. I don't know if insurance automatically replaces bumper covers or tries to patch them up. My headlight has some light scratches that should buff out.
It could have been a lot worse. If I had done that same maneuver in any other car I probably would have wound up in the woods. In retrospect, I should have just plowed right through the mother-father rather than risk my life trying to avoid it.
You are lucky ... but sounds like your "luck" is due to good driving skills. Good one. I thought this was going to be about choosing between going out for a drive or sitting in the back yard by the pool with a cool one!
Yah it's amazing whay pops up from under cars in front of you (4X4's, Large chain links etc.). I found a bridge beam stairing at me one night in Portland Oregon being impatient to pass a slow bus. Luckily some of us drive with our eyes open unlike granny and other slow goers. Early morning off to work winding up on the onramp the car in front of me dodged a 8 foot roll of some sort of material that was hard to see since it blended into the dark especially due to it's massive size blocking the whole lane. Emergency lanes is an appropriate name for that easy out
I've also had 2 different large truck tires explode in front and to the side while cruising. Worst is the drunks leaving bars 12-4 that can't tell the difference between a red light and green.
Moral of the story seems to be watch out because you never know what's next.
Bill, I have a 2000 bumper thats been sitting around, its yours for $150, its got a 3m wrap but needs to be painted to your color. PM if interested.... Glad you're OK.
Reminds me of a time years ago when I was in the middle of a long suspension bridge during rush hour. The SUV in the next lane clipped a HUGE cardboard box in the middle of the bridge, and the box slid into my lane. I had a semi truck on one side of me, and a 200' drop into the Delaware River on the other side. No choice... I plowed right into the box, having no idea what was in it. Turns out, it was full of packing peanuts. The box exploded into a cloud of peanuts. I was driving an old junker at the time, so the minor damage was irrelevant. I bet it looked cool, though.
I lived at Ft Hood for a year. Bought a station wagon and just jumped in the back if er uh out too late. No sense in playing with fate. Too bad some don't have that sense of not pushing everyone's luck.
Darn objects on the road are a super pain. Somebody on here posted a video of a bolt flying up off another 911's tire and cracking his windshield. Just sucks some times. Now if the jerks that hit my car when parked would quit just driving away and own up on being retarded I'd be happy.
