Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

As others have mentioned, I can't get the damned key fob back together! The new battery works fine, the remote works, but the key halves won't snap closed on one side. I saw the video on how to put the thing back together, so I figured my old key cap is shot. I ordered another one from Suncoast, $25 later, the new one isn't snapping back on either. My thought was that rubber gasket might be getting in the way, and maybe lubing it with grease or soapy water would let the key snap back together easier? Of all the damned probleblems I could have, not snapping the key together doesn't seem that bad - but it's annoying the hell out of me!!! Aahhhhhh! Tips?

POST 2Original post

Make sure the circuit board is snapped in under the retaining tabs on the one side before pressing together.

Yup, did that. Still no snap!

POST 4Original post

I had the same problem when I replaced my worn case. It would not close with the old rubber seal. I left the seal out and it works fine. Maybe not as dust and water proof but I'm not going swimming with my keys any time soon.

I'll try lubing the seal, to see if that lets me close the cap, otherwise, I'll try leaving it off. Silly complicated design - who'd of expected it from the Germans!?
