Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. Suggestion
If there's any play, then, yes, pry worth trying to adjust the screws.
Leading evidence: 'Adjust screws' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Adjust screws' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

FWIW, try some anti seize( or other lubricant) on the bayonet so that there isnt any binding as you tighten the hardtop down.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have an '02 C4 Cab and I finally found a hard top locally (within an hours drive) that is the right color scheme to fit my car and it appeared to have the right pins (homerun, or at least I thought).
When I put the top on the car, everything lined up and locked into place but the top didn't sit flush on the inside of the car which made me think something was not right.
The top came off of a 2004 cab and mine is a 2002 cab and that may be the problem as maybe the pins were longer for the 2004 model year. Obviously i have no idea. Can anybody add some insight here? I have included a picture of the inside of the car with the top on so you can see the gap i am talking about.
Fortunately, the seller was cool and didn't force the purchase with me but i don't want to make the same mistake again in case i find another one.
It was/is the right top. The tops do not fit tight to the body. They can be adjusted, but if you make it too tight it will rub the paint off.
if yours has the old type bayonet sockets and the "new" top has the new screw type you can get the parts to fit whichever way you want to go. There is a retrofit kit to change to screw type as some of the bayonet type rattled. Also when the top is on the car there is about 1//2" gap all of the way around the rear.

From the outside it looks exactly like the link that fpb111 posted.
From the inside I just took a photo of mine and you can see there's quite a bit of space but it is secured and doesn't move around so I'd say this is how it's supposed to be.
(unlike you the hardtop I found has the wrong interior color so I still have the repaint the plastic!)
My concern is not the outside of the car as I expected to see a gap there but it's the inside of the car that I am worried about. If you take a look at my picture, the top sits up about an inch and half at least and that just seems odd to me that the hard top would sit so high up on the inside of the car to the point that it looks like crap (IMO). I would have expected better from Porsche.
I previously drove an '01 SL500 and the seal on the inside was tight, as expected, so when i put the porsche top on i was surprised.
If this is how it is supposed to look on the inside of the car, i probably wouldn't want the hard top as it's an eye sore even though i am facing forwards, not backwards, i will know what it looks like and not be happy.
that's a great pic of the inside, thanks! I'm still surprised that it sits so high up but i guess like you said, it's normal. Pretty crappy for Porsche not to make a cleaner fit though.
I was surprised too and had to do my own search to figure out if I had installed it correctly. And to my surprise it was. It really is a strange fit but it's actually quite weather-tight and somehow works.
I agree that it would be ideal to have it fit more flush but I'm sort of stuck with it as it is now...
I just put mine on. It is like having a different car, quieter, 2" more head room, easier to see out of.
In the spring I will be saying "Just took the hard top off, great to put the top down and enjoy the fresh air whistling through my ears and the panoramic view."
To the OP, yes there is a gap on the inside fitment. the bayonets should lock in firmly as you turn the allen screw and the indicator goes from Red dot to green and vice versa.
There is an adjustment on the threaded portion of the bayonet, but it's pry wise to try the fitment first and make sure the gasket on the rear lower/outer portion makes good contact with the car without getting to close where it will contact metal to metal.
FWIW, try some anti seize( or other lubricant) on the bayonet so that there isnt any binding as you tighten the hardtop down.
Also, clean and lube the front seals that contact the hard top to the windshield frame. my. 02
