Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So Im pretty convinced my power steering pumps pulley bearing is going. Engine has a new intermittent metallic spinning chatter coming from that area and its a recently rebuilt engine that has a fresh belt and brand new idler rollers and a new tension roller installed as part of the build. The sound happens when the car has been run hard for a while and its hot out. Otherwise, the car is running perfectly. Attached a vid. Is a new OE pump the only way to go here or are the rebuilt ones a smart option? Thanks!

Yep, its fine and the car/bay is dry no leaks from anywhere.

POST 4Original post

Use a stethoscope to confirm the PS to be the source of the noise. If confirmed, replace it with a factory unit. If you DIY, then a rebuilt unit can make sense.

Thanks for the reply. So I think its the alternator pulley bearing now; sounds like its coming from there and cars voltage has been pretty consistently at 12.5 while turned on, and today i had power loss/hesitant throttle between 2k-4k RPM. Car is a 2000, so e-gas, which is why i think the throttle loss is related.
