Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
37 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

CEL came one to day with a p1124. Seems like the most common is the AOS bellows.. Does everyone here concur?
I have suspected the AOS leaking now for a while. I can not beleive you guys let me miss the While-Im-there service when I did my IMSB.
So I guess as soon as I look for a write up on "how to", I guess I will start the job this evening. Who's stopping by with the case of beer?
I found this thread to be the most helpful.

Also, if you search under my name I had a thread in which a few good tips and additions came out.

plenum is off. Im at the AOS and I cant see poop... I cant feel any nuts... nuttin... Scrub the web and see how this SOB is in there.
Plenum bolt were a piece of cake.. got them befor I even dropped the engine. I was shocked
and it appears I have the incorrect AOS. Thats why I cant find the bolts. Becasue they are not at teh same spot as the one I have that I am using for referance... Well.. Continue to remove the AOS and deal with that tomorrow
well Its out. It wasnt so bad. Yep wrong AOS.. (ed's fault) My bellow had a huge hole in it.
Now the big question... should i, get another AOS and put it in or shoud I just replace the bellow. Im thinking I am just going to do the bellow. Its not that bad of a job. I am going to go through my service records tonight and see if it was ever done.
Man thats a dirty job. Where's Mike Roe?
still saving $ by doing it yourself... just bite the bullet
I replaced my o-rings on the intake... you planning to ?
also put some rags in the opening so you dont drop anything down those nice open holes
well at this point yes.
I got up at 6 to be at a dealer this morning at 8 and then be home at 11 to pick up my kids to havet he parts to put everything back together. Well the dealer is no-more, I called 3 dealers with in 2 hours of here and no one has anything. Worthless.....
So I guess I will order from on-line... they all said "I can order that" I said "so can I, and have it delivered to my door".....
That sucks...needing a part on a weekend and dead in the water. I was looking for part recently and called Suncoast. They didn't have but they told me what dealer in the US had it by what their data base said. Thought that was pretty decent they would divulge that info. Hope you find what you need!
Not sure they are a p car dealer anymore. I was going to try them. But couldnt find a number and couldnt remember their name. I called the one down town pgh but parts was closed today.
I need to open a p car dealership here... they all got bought up by Penski and he is draggin his feet getting this super duper dealership going.
Anyway I tryed suncoast. I really tried to buy from someone we know and trust but their website sucked.. So the AOS and the gaskets came from autopartswarehouse.com..
It really amazes me how differnt this parts supply is from the 928 parts supply. The parts houses are VERY knowledgable, FRIENDLY and always have the parts and they know all the "while you are there" stuff too.. I certainly miss my Jeanie and David from 928gt.com.
Anyway I have a new aos for a 3.6 engine. 100$ shipped anywhere in the lower 48 US
what a bas^%rd.
LOL.. it took me all day put that SOB back together! Plus I am in the middle of a divorce and all my tools are still at the wifes house. So.. everytime I needed something I had to run up to the harbor freight.
I had to take the Plenum out 3 times from dropping bolts! OMG Im out of practice!
Anyone know off the top of their head what I should pull the plenum bolts down too?
If anyone wants to know here is a quick step by step. I wrote this rather late and I am tired. So I am sorry for typos and if I missed anything. Time on job.. Way too long!!! Becasue of the bellow hoseclamp and the broken vacc line. It should take you about 5 hours. I think I put in 8 today and 2 the other. But I was goofin off. ate lunch... ran to the autoparts store a few times.. Stood and watched it rain for a while.. Texted with some chics.... Ya know goofed off...
I didnt remove rear tires and the car was just on ramps
While you are there things:
I did buy a new Throttle Body to plenum gasket and 3 new plenum to intake gaskets.
You may want to have some vacc tube on hand. They get pretty brittle and break ( local auto store will have it)
Maybe a starter.... I didnt, but certainly a thought.
1, Remove the air filter housing
2, Remove the Throttle Body, 4 bolts, one nut. SEE PIX
3, LOOSEN THE COOLENT OVER FLOW CAP TO RELEASE PRESSURE IN THE COOLING SYSTEM. Get a catch bottle and remove the hose at the top of the overflow coolent tank (just give you more room) SEE PIX
4, Remove the
hose
from the air pump,(NOT THE WHOLE AIRPUMP. this is the black thing on the drivers side of the car all the way to the back. Cant miss it... This too just gives you more room. SEE PIX
5. Find something to hold the engine up ( a floor jack is what I used) and remove the two nuts from a cradle One on the far left and one on the far right. DO NOT USE THE OIL PAN AS YOUR JACK POINT.
6. lower the engine.. How far? **** I dunno. till is stop dropping, then jack it back up to take some weight off.
7. start to remove the 6 bolts that hold he plenum on. I used a ratchet and a 3 or 4" ext to do them all. It wasnt near as bad as I thought. But that one in the back is a bitch. SEE PIX
8. loosed the cross over pipe hose clamps.. I had to use a small wrench becasue the way they were turned. You will have to remove some other stuff too.. Like a vacc line valve will have to get unbolted. Just do what you gotta do to get it out.. GENTLY
9. Slowly work the plenum out of the car. if you bring the crossover rubber with youm beareful the front one has a vacc line attached to the bottom.
10.Stuff shop rags in the intake holes NOW. to prevent anything from falling in there.
11. Un snap the 2 larger hoses. these are air hoses from the AOS. Leave the smaller ones attached for now. The small ones are water.. Why get everything all wet?
12. Crawl under, remover the 2 AOS bolts. The go into the side of the case. SEE PIX
13. If your bellow is ruined.. Just grab ahold the upper clamp with plyers and pull down till its off.
14. Back top side. Slowly pull out the aos, the hoses that are attached will come along really easy too
15. With catch bottle ready, remove water lines from AOS and put them on the new AOS
16. Put the AOS back in the car.
17. Put on the bellow hose clamp.. Good luck its a bitch.Bolt it in the AOS. Do not use an american screw type clamp or you will be back here soon. I hear they rip the new bellow hose.
18. Back top side. Install your new plenum gaskets, MAKE SURE ALL YOUR VACC LINES ARE STILL ATTACHED. MINE CAME APART. IT TOOK ME OVER 2 HOURS TO FIGURE IT ALL OUT PLUS i BROKE ONE THAT WAS A REAL BITCH TO GET TO. A vacc line diagram is right on the engine lid. Thats what I used to figure it out. Good luck Basically, you have a 4 way that comes out of the air bladder ( that rounded black thing below the plenum) one of them goes into a check valve and from there goes up to the front crossover pipe. Another side goes in between the bladder and connects right under there to an electronic controlled valave. (thats the one I broke) and the last one comes up to the valve that is mounted on the plenum. You had to remove it before you took the plenum out.
19. After you remove the rags from the intake holes, work the plenum back in SLOWLY AND GENTLY this is a little bit of a bitch.. Oh yeah.. Put in the that far plenum bolt BEFOR you put the plemun back in. trust me.. the hardest part is trying to get that bolt in after you sat the plemun in.. I had to remove my plenum 3 times from dropping and losing the bolt before I got smart. Tighten down the plenum...
20. Connect every thing back up, bolt your engine back up. all your hoses and elec connections, throttle body....
21. I also did an oil change while I was there.
congratulation on a tough job completed. I thought this required an engine drop so I am glad to hear it is one more thing that can be taken care of at home with some patience.
Just one clarification, you say plenum, but do you mean intake ? It was my understanding that the plenum is the 'Y' shaped part right behind the throttle body, and that the intake are the black plastic thingy's that goes into each cylinder head. But my vocabulary can be wrong
