In the meantime I think I'll just use that one for autoX, without the boot, as they are really easy to replace anyways.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So I installed a new 997 shifter/ shift **** and shift link yesterday. 997 shifter----shorter smoother throw-I recomend it over an aftermarket kit Rennline shift-All I can say is wow. Looks like it was made for the car. High qualitity piece. Even comes with a rubber ring assembly that will attach the boot to the ****. I cut the boot as high as possbile and have had no issues with boot height. If you dont have this ****....buy it! I bought both the schnell and the evo shift link....While they are copies of each other....I installed one and was not impressed So much so that I took it back off the car and reinstalled the stock one Dont waste your money on a shift link that has three set screws....Im not trusting my vehicle operation to three set screws.....Ill just replace my stock piece every 50k

https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...t-release.html having owned the rennline **** a few months, my only other complaint besides the boot issue I mentioned in the thread above is that the set screws need tightening about 1x/month. I may get some thread lock to prevent this.

POST 5Original post

I have just ordered the **** as my OEM **** slips up, and last autoX this costed me a few seconds But I don't want to cut my oem boot. If anybody got one for sale, PM me In the meantime I think I'll just use that one for autoX, without the boot, as they are really easy to replace anyways.

POST 6Original post

Its the mechanisms im interested in, i intend to keep the standard 996 aluminium ****.

POST 7Original post

Quotes source post: 8496354

i mentioned in the other thread, if i had to do it over again, i would just get a cheap boot from ebay. there are lots over there. and avoid cutting your own nice boot which may or may not fit.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I had plenty of boot room to spare on mine. The trick is to take a razor blade and cut where the leather actually starts way up towards the top of the ****. That way you know you are not wasting material. Then one its removed even the material out. Im glad i used my stock boot for two reasons 1: the rennline ***** looks like it belongs in the car (silver interior) 2. once this **** goes on you wont want to go back (weight/height etc)

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
