Drive and enjoy your fabulous P-car while you own it, and if you end up selling it find a buyer willing to pay for a clean car w/ no issues - those are hard to come by.

With my engine already having been replaced, I figure mine would be good for $40k--or roughly double--at that point.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Good luck with your sale. It's a tough market out there right now. I just sold an '06 Vette vert for $38,000 and bought my '04 Targa with CPO for $42,000. I'm not trying to be Debbie Downer, but right now cash is king and trying to sell an expensive toy is rough sleddin'.
Autotrader.com has 154 2000 911 (996) Porsches listed.
Range of prices within this search:
Highest Price: $45,000
Lowest Price: $18,000
Average Price: $30,878
Actually, the $18,000 one does have the Aero kit. It just happens to have twice the mileage of the OP's car. Of the 154 2000 Pcars listed 7 of them have the aero kit.

I truly hope the OP gets what he needs from the car, but I know from experience that right now you've got to buckle your seatbelt, because it's a bumpy ride.
Thanks Chao.
There's no rush to sell this car since I know it'll be almost impossible to find another like it in terms of condition and mods - if the price is right then it'll be hard to resist.
No offense, but why do you insist on bashing the sale of this car? It's not beat up, it's not wrecked, it's not misleading. What it IS, is a nice, low mileage, speed yellow 996 that needs a new home.
I mean you have specifically taken time out of your day to point out the flaws in this sale.
[1] you did a search on autotrader and collected statistics to show why this car won't sell.
[2] you did ANOTHER search and collected even more specific statistics regarding similar cars to further support why the OPs car won't sell.
You post your negative comments but add a little sugar coating at the end. ["I hope the OP gets what he wants...
"]
Sure it's a tough economy right now. Do you REALLY think the OP has been hiding under a rock and doesn't know about the economy? I am pretty confident the OP doesn't need anyone to point out and repeatedly emphasize how crappy the world is.
I'm sure it was a long and hard process to decide to sell his car, and I'm almost positive he didn't post the sale here to get a bunch gloom and doom about it. Maybe a little commiserating, group therapy and possibly even a nibble on the sale.
What's that saying, "if you don't have anything nice to say..." Or maybe the saying is "Ben shouldn't be allowed a new userID". [Ok that was wrong, but it's still funny

+100. I'm also tired of seeing all the negative posts on current pricing - I've stopped reading them, as they achieve nothing. The world is what it is, live with it and stop whining about it. No-one bought a Porsche as an investment (if you did, then more fool you). It was a fact that you were going to lose money on the purchase of pretty much any car.
If you have a solid car, then hold onto it if you can and prices will rebound eventually. Until then just have fun driving it, as life is all about the driving experience and not the resale experience.
This is a great car and would be a catch for anyone. The market will dictate what any individual can get for a car and negativity will do nothing to help that sale.
Drive and enjoy your fabulous P-car while you own it, and if you end up selling it find a buyer willing to pay for a clean car w/ no issues - those are hard to come by.
Best of luck should you decide to sell.
Nicely said and I personally could not have said it better my friend. Personally I'm looking for another car that I can enjoy as much as this SY 996 but with a little more practicality.
Again not in any rush to sell
She's a beaut, very nice.
Prices are going down every week, a lot of folks getting rid of their toys right now.
But remember, you only need 1 buyer -- not 20, and you can always lower your price as you want/need.
Good luck!
local dealer here had an aero about the same, I am sure they said 00' Anyhow, went to take a look one day (saw it one night) and it was gone, asked and they said it sold for $36.5k... dont know if the salesman was being truthful, but have no real reason not to believe him as well....seemed to sell quick, special car....
GL its beautiful
If that car sells for that price, I'm gonna repaint my 996 Speed Yellow and add an aero kit. With my engine already having been replaced, I figure mine would be good for $40k--or roughly double--at that point.
I probably couldn't do it now, but at the time I made the decision the aeros were selling for approx $5K more than similar models without the aero kit.
