When you get the PPI completed (if you get to that point) make sure you get a read out of the DME so you can check the number of over revs.
Leading evidence: 'Check number of over revs' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check number of over revs' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. And is this the bose system where 03+ uses the fiberoptics so I won't be changing the deck/speakers w/o paying a ton?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I came across this on autotrader a little bit back. It looks very nice and well optioned. The only real thing I don't like is the lack of hardtop:

2003 911 w ~40k miles. I emailed briefly to inquire and they extended me a better price. I'm confident I can get it for under 30 with little negotiating. I really wanted a hard top, but I guess it isn't a necessity. I could always try to come across a local one in the future.
Things I needed:
Tecknic package (hid's basically, I forget the rest that comes w it)
Heated Seats
PSM
It looks to have all of those. It says full leather, but I cannot tell from the pic. Can someone verify if it does/does not have full leather? Only 996's ive seen very up close had the supple leather option, so I don't know what the other option is really like.
I'm not totally sure what the radar is. I assume maybe a V1 hardwired? And is this the bose system where 03+ uses the fiberoptics so I won't be changing the deck/speakers w/o paying a ton?
Im thinking of going to see it and if I like it, doing a PPI. Just curious if anyone here can spot things that may seem off that I do not notice. Please be critical
Good luck finding a cab
with
a hardtop. I drive mine all winter without it, never missed it. Under 30 is pretty cheap for an 03 cab., even in this economy. It might be a little rough. Definitely get the PPI.
The ad states "leather interior" not full leather interior. That car does not have Full Leather.
It is hard to tell from the pics, but I don't think that is Meridian metallic. It looks like Arctic Silver, but the pics were taken on a cloudy day and may be a little over exposed. Medidian will have slight bronze tit to it.
Yes, the '03 will have the MOST audio system and not easily modified. See if you can get a pic of the Options Sticker under the front hood. That will enable us to identify the color and options.

I have found about a 50/50 mix with hardtop. It will be my DD, so that's why I wanted one. It will also live outdoors (i know
) My worry is that it may be rough, but it looks good from the pictures. I'm going to speak with someone later and see it first hand before even bothering with a PPI.
Tim Thanks. I didnt know if leather interior would be the basic interior or full. I didnt realize that the options sticker was under the front hood, I'll definitely ask for a pic of that.
edit: I think I see what you mean on the leather. I was looking at some close ups of another persons car who does have the full, and I realized the stitching on the dash seems to be the easiest way to tell. I was going by the seats as well, but im not sure if that's accurate or not (full leather seems to be wrinkly and have less lines stitches horizontally, right?)
No, the "wrinkly" leather is a seating option called Supple Leather, but it has nothing to do with Full Leather.
You can have Full Leather but not Supple Leather Seats.
You can have Supple Leather Seats but not Full Leather. (I had this on my car)
You can have both (if both options are ordered).
Heh, as someone who was considering selling his 03 C2, I'd say that $32k is a pretty good price. I'm curious if you end up getting it cheaper... (part of that is probably being in NJ vs CA though)
As an additional data point, I'm asking $33500 for mine, black on black with 49.5k miles on it. Similarly optioned (supple leather, heated seats, HIDs) However, it's just had a new clutch and flywheel put in, with a few other goodies (new stereo, speakers and amplifier). Unfortunately, it sounds like I'm still asking too much, as I haven't gotten much interest at all.
I'm pretty confident I can get them to 29k, but that almost worries me. I usually expect dealers to be harder to move, but I guess when I bought my bike I did the same and pushed a dealer back almost 25% from asking price.
Id expect your price point for an 03. I've been looking for an 02 cab and want it at 30, but most are asking 35+. To me, that's too much bc they arent selling at that value. 03's have been a bit more, and 04's usually not in my range (bc i think most 04 cabs must have been c4s's?)
Its tough bc theres a decent gap bw where most ppl are willing to pay and where most people want to sell (its hard to accept such a loss being a seller)
Hi,
That car looks nice. The seats have lumbar adjustment, which is not all that common. I like the colored crest on the steering wheel. It also appears to have the trip computer (do all 2002+ have that?).
Make sure you check the tires and brakes. If they're worn that can add $1K for new.
When I was looking for a 2002 or newer, I found lots of cars for under $30K. They all had more miles, like 70K or so. So getting an 03 with under 40K miles for less than 30K is a good deal.
Good luck,
Barry

Looks clean. Does the 2nd owner mean it was owned for 2 months, then given to the dealer, or the dealer has to sign the title (so its in essence a 1 owner car)?
