Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

We took frequent stops and changed positions within the 11 car group.
Leading evidence: 'Replace positions within the 11 car group' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Repair ever' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. I can tell you honestly that the car has never been in an accident or had any type of body repair ever.

BTW, Excelence has a nice writeup about the changes for 2002 this month.

If you don't mind me asking, what are trade-in values running on the TT these days?

Interesting that some people have gone back to C-2s from TTs, I guess its what you use the car for that makes the difference.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

What do you think the a fair amount would be to trade a 2002 996 C-2 (which is what I want) for a 2002 996TT (which I have)?
I am trying to decide between selling it outright and trading it. Do you think anyone would want to trade their C-2 for a TT?
Thanks,
Mitch
Lets see what you got, I am interested. I feel an even trade is in both of our best intrest. Seriously; I am interested in a possible trade as long as your car is not a problem child.. You'll get raped on a dealer trade.
Here's the story. I bought the TT as a trophy car. It is very fast. Then I took it to the track for DE and was hooked but realized that it was way too expensive to track so I bought a 944 turbo and now the TT sits in the garage. Last weekend the 944 engine let go and I want a more reliable car to do DE in. The TT is too much car for me to track so I would rather track a stock C-2. I can tell you honestly that the car has never been in an accident or had any type of body repair ever. It has been on the track but that was when I was a complete novice so it was never abused. It has been maintained by Orbit here is south Florida. It is immaculate. It is stock. It has 23000 miles. I don't smoke. It is not a problem car. It doesn't make sense to keep both a TT and a C-2.
Send me a PM if you are interested
Since I am not an expert about 996's, what are the differences between the 02 and the earlier years? Not cosmetically, which I don't care about. Only the performance issues
295hp vs 320 or so. A software upgrade gives you the 25hp. OR- slap on a supercharger and get another 100 or so. What are the specs on your turbo, color, etc??
I'm new here and recently purchased a 1999 996. What is this software upgrade that you are all talking about? Will it really give me 25 more HP and how much does it cost? Is this something only a dealer can do for me? Thanks!
How about an 03 Targa Modified - I would be happy to Trade for A TT - See me Mod details on my Black Beauty. PM Me if interested... :-) Good Luck either way....
I traded the TT yesterday at a local dealer. Thanks for replying though. I ended up with a 2004 guards red 996 coupe. Love it!
BTW, Excelence has a nice writeup about the changes for 2002 this month. Issue came just in time. There is alot of difference between the 01 and the 02. Much more than ECU programming
Wow, while most of us are looking for anyway to get into a TT, you guys trade down and are happy about it? I must reevaluate my desire to have a TT. I guess I have this every growing need for more power and consider the TT as such an incredible vehicle. My C4S is about as close as I can get to the TT.
I have had a 996 C-2 and now have a 996tt, there is no comparison. There is a reason that the 996tt is more expensive. The turbos, which I have had several, are the epitome of Porsche performance with the reality of a daily driver.
I have had both also. Unless you like to do jail time speeds, the TT's legs are too long for U.S. roads. The steering has markedly less feedback as well secondary to the AWD system. The throttle response of the higher compression naturally aspirated 3.6 is a noticeably crisper until 3K rpms. To each his own.
I don't doubt that and I agree "To each his own", but do you really feel you get all the feedback from either car on city streets. I think both cars are engineered to remarkable performance standards, and agree that I never get an opportunity to stretch my legs or i would be in jail. My car, which has an aftermarket exhaust, let the turbos spool up a little faster, somewhere in the 2500 range, which makes the throttle reponse more enjoyable. As far as the AWD system, I don't feel mine like I felt my 993tt. The 993tt pulled, the newer ones are more tame.
Bottom line....I am a Porsche fanatic and believe these cars are wonderful to wonand drive and feel very lucky to be able to drive them. They wouldn't make the two different models if they thought everyone would just buy one.
This weekend we drove through rural eastern Oregon to attend the Historic Races at Portland International. We played a little cat and mouse at a few spots on very deserted highway. We took frequent stops and changed positions within the 11 car group. The 993 Turbo I was following at one time definitely had more acceleraion than I did. In fact it would really surge after an initial lag. Also my buddy has a 1999 Carrera with a chip that he claims gives him 25 more hp. I did not see any difference in acceleration between mine and his.
Just my impressions from the weekend drive.
Dude.... I leave the boards for a couple of days and come back to this...... I would have been VERY interested!!!!!! "DUDE"...... SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME IF THIS HAPPENS AGAIN.....

I have been looking at TTs for a year now and every time I drive one I think my 02 C-2 pulls harder in the low range and is more fun to drive in the tight curves (PSS9s with HR sways). There is no question the TT has much longer legs and gets very rapid over 4K rpm. I drove an 02 TT last week from a dealer lot in the Santa Monica Hills and felt there must have been something wrong with the car and was going to post here to see what people think. Interesting that some people have gone back to C-2s from TTs, I guess its what you use the car for that makes the difference.
Sad i miss the thread....that trade has been my request for a while and tomorrow I will complete the sell of my beloved 02 C2 cabrio to hopefully buy a tt
It really boils down to what you want out of your car. The TT is a heavy car and feels like it. It has incredible acceleration but I think the C-2 does just about everything else better. I don't like AWD. I don't like PSM. I don't like turbo lag (although the TT doesn't have much, it is still there). Also, and maybe I am crazy, the C-2 sounds better.
