Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello, I'am hoping to reach out to anyone. I was replacing my rear speakers but the depth is very shallow due to the factory sound insulation. Would cutting a hole and inserting the speakers have an adverse effect in the music sound? or would it harm the car? Sorry for the newbie question but I am stuck in the middle of installation. Any response is appreciated. thanx in advance. h.

POST 2Original post

The effect will depend on how much of the insulation you remove. If you make a hole just large enough for the magnet the insulation will be close to the cone and interfere with the air flow. Making a larger hole would be better. If you remove too much insulation the road noise will get louder.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
