If it is all closed up and just a clean nose, then the gearbox was for a C2 rear wheel drive/

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi guys, I need to get some detail regarding a carrera 4 model 1999, this car was for sale in gulf country. as carrera 4 is 4 wheel drive, during check we found that there are front drive shaft & front side all wheel drive as well, but the connecting shaft from front all wheel drive unit to transmission is missing. I found a sticker on transmission but could not decode it. I just want to confirm that this transmission is for the correct model( carrera 4), not a for carrera 2. can someone explain please

POST 2Original post

Many people remove the drive shaft between the front of the gearbox and the differential at the front of the car to turn the c4 into a c2. If that were the case, you should be able to see the front of the gearbox to have connection points for a front drive shaft. If it is all closed up and just a clean nose, then the gearbox was for a C2 rear wheel drive/

thankyou, I noticed there was some connection point in front side of gearbox, although the splines were not clearly visible. Than it should be for carrera 4, as front all wheel drive & both drive shafts were there. Thankyou
