I'm running 19" rims good for thumping turns in town but I don't think they have much feel in country turns.

I know others on the forum have used these on the track without any fitment problem.

I'm also thinking of changing my stock wheels to a set of reproduction Sport Classic II from Wheel Enhancement.

With the 235's and 295's I could not feel any reduction in acceleration, however I made the change with new wheels that were lighter than stock so that may have negated the increased friction from slightly wider (and heavier) tires.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

i am looking for the best size of wheels\tires combo for my 996 C2 with GT3 body kit,,
i prefer 18",, should i go for 8"/10" or 8"/11"?
i am open for other opinions,, also, please, help me on best tire sizes for the chosen wheels,,
It depends on use: street or track. If you really want to just fill up the wheel wells and have it look/fit right, then get a set of custom 18x9/18x11 wheels with 255/35 front and 315/30 rear. These were the largest that would fit on my CCW 18x9/18x11 3-piece classic race wheels on my C2. Although the tires are wide and fit the wheels, they are not the best sizes for track tires. 235/40 and 295/30 are better suited for the track.
DUDE - I think your car looks great. I am glad to see you posted pics, and you are thinking of making it a little more personal and making a few changes. Welcome to Rennlist. If you get a membership (aprox $18) you will be allowed to view more forums including the "for sale" section. You might be surprised at what people are selling over there. Good luck on making it what you want. I really like the rear wings on the bumper and overall look. Maybe a little unussual to have the small wheels, but you know that, and the bumper things are not something we see everyday.... cool man!
Your car looks great. Those sensors on the bumpers sure got some eyebrows to raise. Great car and excellent find. Best of times travelling with it. I've given up trying to figure out what country it is.

I wish I could leave it to somebody else to do my rims and suspension. I'm running 19" rims good for thumping turns in town but I don't think they have much feel in country turns. I really wish the Flying Lizard race team had a shop near me I could just drop the car off
Once again you have a very nice car there.
Noticed on the forum that some of you are looking for a set of GT3 wheels. I was thinking of selling my set and if your are interested, let me know.
OEM GT3 wheels with PS2 tires
8.5" 40mm F
11" 63mm R
235/40/18 - 7mm tread left
295/30/18 - 6mm trad left
They have be refinished and painted gun metal, mint condition and looks great on a silver car.
I bought some nice BBS rims recently and was thinking of using them in the Summer. If I find the right buyer that appreciates good taste I am willing to sell them. Asking $2600 plus shipping. These are OEM with PS2 tires and will fit flush on your NB 996 no spacers needed.
go for cup sizes. 18 x 9 offset 46mm and 18 x 11 offset 59mm. cant go wrong with that imho
315/30/18 on the rear and 235/40/18 on the front work well. you can add width up front but you trade sidewall and i prefer the extra height myself. others may sit on the other side of that one, its all up to each user. make sure you get that exact offset though if you are going to run those widths. anything else will give you clearance headaches.
Thanks man I really appreciate you and all members of this great forum. I live in saudi arabia and love to pay for membership. Please, pm instructions.
welcome kj from Saudi Arabia.
in the upper right hand of the forum page click on the word "membership", you can then purchase a one year or two year membership... either one gives you access to the members only "for sale" and "wanted" sections. good luck
Ray, dumb question for you... what is the advantage of GT3 sizes on a non GT3 996... are not the 225F and 265R 285R good enough for track? won't the extra width of the rears and fronts cause more friction and reduce acceleration and speed?
kj....that is correct. Post those numbers and we'll be able to help you out.
And thanks for being a good sport.....we just like to bust the new guys ***** around here
WELCOME TO RENNLIST
i am under the impression that the front ones will be as skinny as the current one,, what do you think?
what spacers should i use to give it more looks?
btw, they are OEM GT3 take-off wheels
I've been running 225f on 7.5", 295r on 10". The fronts push with 225's. Just bought a set of 8.5's for the front (40 offset, 11's for the rear). I'll go to a bigger tire up front when my current tires wear out.
Up front, you could add 7mm spacers to get a similar look if you had 8" wide wheels with a 50mm offset. Or you could go with 15mm spacers for a more agressive look. Either will not give you any fitment problems.
You "could" add spacers, but they are not necessary. It just depends what look you want. Some have added 7mm or 15mm in the rear. However, 15mm in the rear may be pushing the wheel to the outer edge of the fender well.
Pete I have not tracked my 996 but from tossing it around a bit on the street it does seem to have benefited from the additional rubber up front and in back. I briefly considered going to 315's in the rear but I thought that would create more understeer and it would have the negative affect of making the gearing considerably taller.
With the 235's and 295's I could not feel any reduction in acceleration, however I made the change with new wheels that were lighter than stock so that may have negated the increased friction from slightly wider (and heavier) tires.
I've got 235/35/19s in front and 275/30/19 in the rear and it tracks pretty good. Only streeting the car with the track closed a few years back so no way to really be breaking it loose around town. But it does seem to track pretty good. I'll probably go wider once I've burned out the present tires.
Since this seems to be the current tire discussion thread..... anyone else running either of the Hankook performance tires right now?
I'm probably going to try a full set of their Ventus V12 Evo tires.
I've seen their new R-S3 autocross style tires, but it sounds like they wear too fast for daily driving.
I'm also thinking of changing my stock wheels to a set of reproduction Sport Classic II from Wheel Enhancement.
Anyone have a pic of their 996 on Sport Classic II's?
This is from their website, but I'd like to see a couple other examples if possible.
Okay, so I got the Hankook Ventus installed, the car has a smooth ride now considering my old tires were really shot.
Funny how new tires are like wearing new tennis shoes, plenty of grip but you've gotta get used to them.
Okay, so thoughts on trading my stock Turbo look wheels on the (repro) Sport Classic II's?
I think it would be a nice refresh, here's another 993 shot.
Anyone else here have them on the 996?
