Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

14 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Ok so after much researching and a lot of driving I think I have narrowed it down to a 99-01 996 coupe. Prefer black aero 6 speed but they are not all that easy to come by. Where do you all go for financing, credit is no problem. Alot of for sale by owner cars out there and have never made those type pruchases before always been dealer based. Ideas/thoughts? Thanks Caesar

POST 2Original post

I got mine through a local credit union. Financing for a 10 year old car will be more restricted but a CU will probably be able to do it for you.

POST 3Original post

Welcome, there are usually a good number of 996's FS, or someone posts a find from Ebay or CL. Obviously, if the PO ( previous owner) is a RL member and you can get a good history on the car, that's a good start. As far as financing, it would be best to approach a bank, or credit union where you have been a long term account holder. Searching for the "right" Pcar is alot of fun. GL.

POST 4Original post

I financed a 20yr 911 through Capital One, no issues at all.

POST 5Original post

Finance it through Penfed.org. I got 3.99% on my '02. You DO NOT have to be military or government to use them. It is the best deal in auto finance: https://www.penfed.org/productsAndRa.../autoLoans.asp

Thanks for the tips. If you guys run accross any Black 6 speed aero coupes shoot them my way

Other option is to see if your credit card company has any special loan products going that you might qualify for. My M3 was hard to get a loan for considering the nada/blue book values didn't align with the current market prices. My CC company offered me a lifetime fixed loan at 5% up to my credit limit of the card. This was great at the time as most used car loans were going for 8%. Another option if you can pay it back in a timely manner is to take a loan out against your 401k, there will be a lot less hassle(especially if you don't have the greatest FICO score) and most likely, you will get a great rate. The last time I did this, I think I got it at 4.5%. Just another couple alternatives...

POST 8Original post

Use www.searchtempest.com to search Craigslist across the country. I also spent a lot of time on autotrader, cars.com and the PCA Mart before I found my car last fall. And Excellence Magazine has just re-launched their website and included classifieds. The search is part of the fun! As for inspecting and buying from an individual or dealer. Obviously you need to have a PPI done by a qualified mechanic. Depending on distance, it can be worth the time and money to travel to do a final deal. Due to weather and time of year, I actually bought my current car based on a PPI from a shop recommended by a friend in the area, a detailed walk around by another friend, and lots of pictures. I did not see the car until it came off the carrier! Sort of nerve-wracking, but so far, so good! Rennlist and PCA are great resources. It is surprisingly easy to find someone locally to look at a car and recommend a shop. Don't hesitate to ask. Good Luck!

POST 12Original post

or did you want an aero at base model cost???

POST 13Original post

sorry I missed this - there was an MKI vblack aero popped up in Oregon this last week... do a search ( I tried) - looked really nice ! hope someone here picked it up !

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The price paid will depend on the car. There are huge differences in cars and I have seen decent cars around $20K and I have seen cars that are not as nice in the $30k range from people that maybe bought high and need to get rid of their car and not take a bath. I am not paying for someone's mistakes. I live near Philly and east coast cars are harder to come by therefore more expensive. I have no problem buying a west coast car and shipping if it's the right car at the right price. Feel free to send me an email if you are selling your black 6 speed coupe. Would prefer aero but that may be a bit too picky. In a perfect world I pick up a car like like Dallas boats avatar pic. I have heard from one lister so far. If you are interested in selling shoot me an email [email removed] Thanks Caesar
