Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Looking for some advice from fellow Australian Rennlisters-- any suggestions on suitable tyres, 18 inch wheels. Have been running Yokohama's and have been very happy with them but they're getting hard to get. The Yokohama's are appreciably lower in cost than any of the Porsche approved tyres, I have not had any problem with, although I'm probably not all that good at being a racing driver. I haven't had a problem with them to date -- and no punctures which is very important to me because I get out the back of beyond rather often. Any suggestions?

POST 2Original post

Hey Michael, I've only had my MY04 6 months or so, and am still on the tires it came with. P-Zero Rosso on the back, and Michelin PS2 on the front. May not be of any great benefit, since I can't compare with any other tires, on a 996 at least, but I've been happy with them so far. One thing though, and i may be because i haven't driven in the wet much the ps2's felt like they were about to let go a little sooner than i would have expected, but again may just have been me? As far as punctures, I think that would be more about where you drive than the tire? I would think any HiPo soft/sticky rubber would have a good chance of picking up any objects lying on the road, Yoki's included? Maybe talk to stucky's on Sydney Rd Brunswick http://www.stuckey.com.au they've always given me good advice, and they seem to know about hi-performance rubber. Good luck...

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the suggestion Robert, in any event my local supplier saw me we were both at lunch and said that the Yokohamas had arrived into the country last Wednesday so he should have them by next Wednesday -- problem solved -- although it would have been interesting to try another brand. Now all I have to do is arrange to get the car to Porsche Melbourne to have the wheel alignment done -- because I'm not happy with the rear tyre wear -- they are wearing nice and flat across the main part of the tyre (since I lowered the pressure to 37 psi down from the 44 psi that Porsche Melbourne put in); the rear tyres are wearing right on the very inside -- I did a search here and that seems to be a bit of a problem -- perhaps the geometry is not what it should be. Also the car has the "indicator won't return problem", there goes a few hundred dollars to have a new indicator switch fitted. Anyway, thanks again for the comments, Regards
