Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Use hardtop' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check over at renntech slipped my mind' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

It replaces both "pins" on the top itself and both receivers which mount in the body.

I had to replace all 4 components, the two pins on the top as well as the receivers in the body.

I found the Porsche TSB that describes the procedure for replacing the hardware.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I just received the new-style Hard Top mounting hardware from Sunset. It replaces both "pins" on the top itself and both receivers which mount in the body. How to remove and replace the pins on the top is obvious. However, I am not sure how to get access to the old receivers. They are somewhat "submerged" in the canvas cover that covers the pop-up roll bars in the area directly aft of the back seats. Has anyone done this procedure or have any insight/suggestions?
Thanks,
Leon
I bought the car 2 years ago and have only used the hardtop on a few occasions. I have been storing the car for winters. This year, I bought some Blizzacs with the intention of driving the car year-round. The tires are fantastic on the C2 by the way. Anyhow, the previous owner had over-torqued the driver side "quarter-turn" style locking pin which broke it and prevented the drivers side of the top from remaining secure which then resulted in the top rattling after driving for only a few miles. Some homework revealed that Porsche had updated the hardware to a style that now utilizes a threaded bolt/pin which now screws into the receiver in the car vs. just cinching down with a 1/4 turn. I found the Porsche TSB that describes the procedure for replacing the hardware. Normally it is a strait forward process. My car however, being a mid 200 model year, has the older style roll bar cover which utilizes 5 screws to secure vs. the newer style which only uses 3 top-accessible screws. The 2 additional screws on my style must be accessed from behind the little "wall" that you see when you fold the back seatbacks down. When I got to that point I was stumped, I cannot figure out how to get this wall out of the way. I have an appointment tomorrow with the dealership for them to do the work. I have scoured the web for an answer but to no avail. My garage is cold this time of the year and I don't want to start disassembling the cars interior etc. trying to figure out how to get at these 2 screws!
The above link that fpb111 provided is an excellent resource, but the roll bar cover is the new 3 screw style, not my 5 screw style and like I said, I just can't figure it out....
I'll let you know how it goes.
Worked with my indy yesterday and got the job done. All of the hardware fit well. It took the two of us 1.5 hrs. To do the job. That figure could be reduced by about 20% the second time around. I had to replace all 4 components, the two pins on the top as well as the receivers in the body. The job is vastly easier with 2 people because you are working with the top etc.
The new configuration is fantastic. The top screws down very snuggly and is absolutely rattle/noise free.
