Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

25 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

FisterD PSE hacked mufflers installed today on my 2004 40th Anniversary. All I can say is WOW! If you have not done it or are considering doing it do not delay DO IT NOW. You will not regret it. Car sounds amazing. Now maybe mine sounds deeper or louder because of the X51 package on a 40th (I have nothing to compare it to) but it is nice and throaty with ZERO drone at speed. However, when the varicam hits

POST 2Original post

Good for you, it's one of the best 'sounding' mods you can do.

POST 5Original post

You'll love parking garages even more now. It's especially fun when you first start up a cold engine and your 996 "clears it's throat" a little.

POST 7Original post

Welcome to the Fister D club! Isn't the sound awesome ? Ruum ruum

POST 8Original post

What Stage did you go with? I am close to ordering, but only want an increase in throatiness. If it comes with a significant increase in overall sound, then I will stay with stock. Does your system sound much different than stock during moderate driving? Thanks-Mawgie

POST 9Original post

Oh yeah to Darin and his Fister D mods! Absolutely worth it! Mawgie: under normal loads (moderate driving) nice and quiet (i.e. like stock- no drone...even the wife doesn't notice).....BUT, when you decide to put your foot into it..........fantastic, simply fantastic! A huge smile every time!

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I did Stage II and yes Darin was awesome to deal with. No sound bites I will try later in week the weather has been terrible doun here last few days (pouring rain).

POST 11Original post

+1 for all accounts..... Darin is awesome and the sound is NOT obnoxious or loud,... just perfect - un-noticable at cruise and so satisfying at WOT

I did the mod a couple of weeks back and put a vid/sound clip on my emmy web page. Loving it.

Is it true that the cost for the Stage II DIY mod is in the $250-$300 range? Hard to believe that this improvement comes at such a good price.

POST 15Original post

Yep.... Considering a true 996 PSE is over $6k now..... Insane. The 997 PSE costs @$2k+ but they don't sound as sweet.

POST 16Original post

I'm going to have to have a look at the condition of my muffler & connections to get a better assessment of the work involved. Worse case would be to take it to my local PCar indy who said that they could do anything I want with the car for the labor charges ($120/hr). With the right equipment, this should be a job easily completed in an hour.

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Cost me under $150 to have my indy do and he did a few other things as well so overall for price I would say going to be the MOST bang for the buck in th car.

POST 18Original post

Well, I had the pleasure to have the man Darin himself do the install for me Less than 1 hour of his time. Drove my 996 today (after not driving her for over 1 week) and I'll tell you... the sound is awesome. When you get on it will make people turn heads.. Love it.

POST 19Original post

They're pretty easy to do yourself. I did mine in the driveway, and I actually took off my rear bumper (which I later found out wasn't necessary). It still only took me a couple of hours.

POST 20Original post

Tomorrow mine is headed to a local header mfg for the conversion. I can't wait!

POST 22Original post

You're going to love the sound! Best bang for the buck mod you can do.

POST 24Original post

wow - just wow (thouse who know me - know what's wow)
