Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
IMO, a 9.5 inch rim in back is going to look too narrow; not sure how it will fill the wheel well.

Suggestion
Nevertheless, the 9.5 in rear pry weighs alot less than most other wheels out there, which helps when changing a flat.

Just picked up a 996 to replace my wife's Boxster and hoping to be able to put some Techart wheels on there.

Suggestion
I would have one of the rear tires mounted on the 9.5 rim and test fit on the 996 to see some real-world fitment and if you may actually want to add spacers .

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi everyone, jumping the fence from the air cooled side to ask a 996 narrow body wheel fitment question:
Will these wheel fit a 1999 996?
18X8 5X130 +42mm
18X9.5 5X130 +47mm
Will I need spacers at all? Just picked up a 996 to replace my wife's Boxster and hoping to be able to put some Techart wheels on there. Will post more details on the 996 project we picked up in a separate thread..actually I'm sure she'll do it herself.. thanks in advance for any info regarding the wheels!
the front offset should bring the wheel just about even to the fender ( nice, aggresive look), no spacers req'd. IMO, a 9.5 inch rim in back is going to look too narrow; not sure how it will fill the wheel well. what size tires are you fitting on these wheels? PICS?
Nevertheless, the 9.5 in rear pry weighs alot less than most other wheels out there, which helps when changing a flat. And will be more forgiving for everyday driving. I currently have 11in rear wheels, aggresive look, better grip, but obviously will have a bit more noise and pick up uneven road surfaces.

Thanks for the reply. The tire size would be probably a 265/35/18 in the rear and 225/40/18 in the front (was looking at Toyo tires). This is a pic of the Techart wheel I'm thinking about putting on the car, I have a set laying around so I thought might as well put them to good use. I didn't know you could actually fit 11's in the rear on a narrow body..

^^ those Techarts look sharp. what color is your 996 ? the tires sizes are close enough in Diam (F25.08 vs R 25.3) so that shouldn't be a problem. I would have one of the rear tires mounted on the 9.5 rim and test fit on the 996 to see some real-world fitment and if you may actually want to add spacers . Obv. would be good to do front also to make sure there is no contact with brake, suspension or body components.
Those are very aggressive offsets... The front is fine, the rear will prob be flushed to the well.... Fwiw stock 10x18 has 65mm some people put on 15mm spacer having the tires flushed to fenders.
They're older Techarts but I still like the style and thought they might look good on the 996. I was going to have them powder coated black since the rear wheels are silver right now. I thought since the factory 18's were 8's & 10's (correct me if I'm wrong) 9.5 might work as well. but if the offset is going to be too much of an issue it might be easier to sell the Techarts and put the money towards another set of wheels. The car is black by the way to answer your question.
Thanks!
my rims/tires are more aggressive than that, so both the fronts and rear tech arts will fit fine, assuming normal alignment specs.
if you like the look, i would just use them, as the only way you would notice the 0.5" difference would be on the track/autox.
post a pic when you have them all mounted.
