in the winter I tend to change the wash water every wash due to salt and more road grime - also you cannot get too many dry towels, if you can swap those out as they get wet you can make short work of the drying process...buy quality ones as $ permits but you can start with good cotton towels - your wife wont even notice 5-6 of them missing (till she sees them hanging in the garage!!!

Suggestion
Some self service bays use recycled water that has a high salt content that you are re-spraying the car with.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Well, I prefer to drive the C2 year round regardless the weather, but the dilemma I now face is the car is absolutely dirty from road salt, highway grit and just plan filth. Does anyone here take their vehicle to full service car wash? We have Autobell here in Charlotte and I take my other vehicles there on occasions. Suggestions? Thoughts? or should I just take the car and have it washed? I'm sure the German's engineered the car to "withstand" a car wash.
is it a machine?
In my area there is a place that you can get e real hand wash for something like $20 - but there is no way I would take me car thru a machine. They will scratch your paint and possibly damage your wheels (if they have those "tracks, your wheels are too wide and will rub the edges)
try searching Autopia (dot com) for ways to wash in the winter - there are tricks. For one, wash frequently, use a high power hose and blast off salt, maybe roll up on ramps and hit the underside every so often, you can wash inside, if you have a little space, with a waterless car wash, ect...
again, I dont know what the place you suggested has, but I would not go thru a machine - OH and those "touchless" ones are fine except the biggest problem of all...before the touchless carwash washes your beauty some monkey with a BROOM scrubs the crap out of your paint
IF you can convince the monkey to not touch the car, the touchless ones (frequently) are a good idea IMO
You know after thinking about it, Im moving crap off the floor in the garage and washing the car inside. Using a hose splitter and connecting to the hot/cold faucets behind the washer. Should be interesting......
I wash inside - and have crap on the floor... I use ONR (optimum no rinse) and the 2 bucket method.... I have not used a hose in about 3 years....check out this vid (there are many many vids)
Well, I will order from Amazon to get free shipping and just drive the other car for now. 29 degrees and the garage is a warm 48. Gonna head to the gym instead.
cool... you saw the 2 bucket thing?
That really works and like on a nice warm morning I can wash the car ni a couple minutes, and off somewhere with a clean and dry car. I actually keep the wash water a few washes (not because its expensive, but because I am cheap
) so its very quick... in the winter I tend to change the wash water every wash due to salt and more road grime - also you cannot get too many dry towels, if you can swap those out as they get wet you can make short work of the drying process...buy quality ones as $ permits but you can start with good cotton towels - your wife wont even notice 5-6 of them missing (till she sees them hanging in the garage!!!

It shouldn't take but 20 minutes to wash the car. I did mine last weekend. Sure the water was cold and it was cold outside (I had to let my hose thaw out!) but at least I got the salt off of it.
Or go to one of the local self-service washing stations. In that way at least you control where you spray.
