Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

26 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have always wondered what the Orient Express weighs, so I found a truck scale and weighed the car. An 02 996 C2 cab, I had a full tank of gas and myself on the scale, and it came out to 3580 lbs., 1440 lbs. on the front wheels and 2140 lbs on the rear wheels. 40/60. Now that I have the weight of the car, I can download the "must have" application for my iPhone. or only $13 you can download the Dynolicious G-meter software for your iPhone or iTouch. If you have 7 minutes, Click here for a live review and test comparing Dynolicious to the G-Tech Pro, and an actual dyno and drag stip test. Gotta have it!

POST 2Original post

May I ask how much you weigh? Any extra accessories or anything removed from the car? Thanks

POST 3Original post

That's a very cool thing to do. I want to do mine.

POST 4Original post

I like the 25% drivetrain loss on the cooper. Open mouth and insert crack pipe. I believed my Tip weighed 3250?

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Subract about 185 for me, but the car is pretty much stock, as delivered. I wonder what the other variations of the 996 weigh? Coupe, 4S, GT3, GT2, Turbo Coupe, Turbo Cab, Targa? Anyone got the weights of these cars? I bet I am one of the heaviest cars.

POST 6Original post

So 3395lbs with no driver and a full tank...how much does gas weigh?

POST 7Original post

My turbo cab...full tank, no occupants...3580.

POST 8Original post

6GT3 w/half cage, euro gt3 seats, 1/2 tank no driver=3224. On the other hand, the RS6 is 4302 with 1/2 tank no driver. And since its the anti-911 with the motor out front of the front axle line it likes to push it's way through the corners.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

At 60 degrees Fahrenheit, a gallon of gasoline weighs about 6.15 pounds. So if the fuel tank has a capacity of 16.9 gallons (inc. reserve), or 104 lbs. The dry weight of my 996 Cabriolet is 3291 lbs.

Where are these from? Factory data for 996 Turbo cab is 1660 kg / 3660 lbs I have weight reduced mine somewhat.

POST 12Original post

The owners manual has dry weights for all the variants for that particular year (not GT3 or GT2) for tip and standard in the back, but specifies a range (qualified as depending on equipment, e.g. satnav, bose stereo, full leather, wood, etc.)

POST 13Original post

my car weighed in @ 3,040 lbs ... I had half a tank of gas in the car... driver's side EURO GT3 seat... full leather and sunroof... spare tire and some other stuff was in the front hood... not much though... *I was not in the car when it was weighed* car is a 99 C2

POST 14Original post

Well crap, I just found out about the G-Force and was thinking about getting one... THANKS to your youtube video I think I will consider something else (iphone / ipod program) Thanks for the post, very interesting Ed

POST 15Original post

I just spent some time searching this out, many of the user reviews had the same point... crashes and wont load car specs (which is required forHP measurments) It is supposed to load on iphone or ipod touch. The info I have says its great, but needs refining to be all it says it is, still for $13 (vs $100-$300 for G-force) it might give you enough to decide if you need more or can live with this much... Something tells me after a few 100 times of running, many will grow tired of it and not use it, so the money saved is well worth the money spent... Now back to you Ted Errr .... Ed I meant

I did weight my '00 C2 Cab earlier this year. Without driver and 1/4 tank of gas it has 3,083 lbs. https://rennlist.com/forums/996-forum/403389-weight-of-my-2000-c2-cab-3-083-lbs.html

POST 17Original post

3136 lbs for my '99 C4 - driver's GT3 seat, console delete, half tank of gas, spare tire and tools, but no air compressor. Otherwise empty (i.e. no junk or stuff).

POST 21 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That was with the soft top. Add 75 lbs for the hardtop.

POST 22Original post

01 C4 Cab. Some mods. Mine weighed 3340 pounds. Still has all the normal stuff (spare, back seats, etc) and a 1/4 tank of gas (no occupants). Weighed at track. The IPOD thing looks pretty cool BTW, but I love my G Meter...

Years ago I got them from the Porsche website tech specs when the 996 was being sold. My manual confirms the 3.6l 996 na weights but doesn't have TT wieghts. The specs I recored are: 996 Turbo 3,394 lbs 3,494 lbs (tiptronic) 4.2 (304 kph/189 mph) 4.9 (298 kph/185 mph) (tiptronic) 996 Turbo Cab 3,549 lbs 3,649 lbs (tiptronic) 4.3 (304 kph/189 mph) 4.9 (298 kph/185 mph) (tiptronic) What does your manual say the weight is for the TT and TT cab? I will adjust my numbers if they are incorrect.

POST 26Original post

I will update this post later tonight with the printout I got from the scale at Roebling Road Raceway earlier this year. The fun part was that at a very portly 260lbs, my car was perfectly corner balanced with me in the driver's seat. I guess I don't really need to go on a diet after all. I am already at "race weight."
