Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

if you take your car to a dealer, can they check on their computer which TSB's have been performed on a car?
Leading evidence: 'Check on their computer' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check on their computer' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.

:-) I just think after having 10s of thousands of Cayennes exhibit this problem, it wouldn't have taken too much effort to check their top of the line car for the same.

Maybe I'll throw a few of those in with the next oil change just as a preventitive measure

I am assuming that someone suggested using a speedy sleeve to correct an oil seal leak.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

yep, but Ford ADMITTED their screw up and actually fixed it immediately vs.
Thought people might find this interesting. Apparently, Porsche is not the only car with an RMS leak. Apparently the Ford GT has it, among other things...

yep, but Ford ADMITTED their screw up and actually fixed it immediately vs. Porsche pumping out cars for 9 model years (and counting) without even admitting there was a problem - much less fixing it!
fords got other problems too, like the 100 or so cars that were recalled for control arms. There were a couple of other problems too.
i still want one tho, the car looked sooo nice at the autoshow.
yes, i saw the recall on the control arm which cracked after 100k miles on one of their prototypes. you seen the TSB, recall list for 911, Boxsters, and Cayennes? i'd say Porsche has had a hell of a lot of "other problems" too!
yeah thats a good point. just out of curiosity, did u CGT get recalled for anything? (anything real, not a floor mat that needed restiching).
if you take your car to a dealer, can they check on their computer which TSB's have been performed on a car?
There were a couple (like the reverse lights coming on when shifting) that I assume were completed on my car. They haven't yet come up with a fix for the fogged up headlights (they finally did for the Cayennes) yet. Oh well, who needs good headlights on a 200+ mph car? :-) I just think after having 10s of thousands of Cayennes exhibit this problem, it wouldn't have taken too much effort to check their top of the line car for the same. That said, I've been real pleased with the build quality of the car so far (save for the broken glove box).
Robt, I'll get in touch today.
Hi Ben,
You beat me to your first post. Before I even saw your reply I was saying "yes but Ford admitted to and acknowledged the problem".
I have worked for 2 German companies here in the states and I am currently leaving because quite frankly they are ********. So sad.
Yep, pretty hypocritical for Pcar owners to be talking smack on Ford, eh:

Loc: San Francisco CA USA 997s RECALL - Crank case machined 1mm too thin?
#81523 - Tue Mar 01 2005 12:56 AM
I took my car in FINALLY to have the airbag light fixed and reset and was told
there is a recall on my 997S. Basically he said part of the crank case may have been machined 1mm too thin at one end and they have to pull the transmission and check it. If it is the wrong measurment then they have to install some kind of a spacer.
I'm not a transmission expert, so I maybe someone else can look up the details and post them. Did not sound TOO serious, but I don't like the idea of pulling the transmission out. Just never good.
Probably some kind of gooey thick sticky packing rope that they press in to or around the seal ???
What about that stuff that comes in a little glass jar, it's like black oil with these pellets that look like rabbit food, supposed to stop some kind of leaks. Maybe I'll throw a few of those in with the next oil change just as a preventitive measure
I've noticed their new tag-line on their TV ads: "Built for the road ahead" has an awfully familiar ring to that old cliche:

My 01 Audi A4 was just diagnosed with an RMS leak. Its tiptronic so the mechanic says its not as crucial as if it was manual (doesnt drip onto the flywheel.) Just another german car with an RMS leak. Anyone have any idea on cost to fix or potential damage?
I am assuming that someone suggested using a speedy sleeve to correct an oil seal leak. This works when the part of shaft where the seal lip contacts has been marked or cut. The solution is to sleeve the shaft so the seal sits on a smooth sealable surface. Unfortunately this does not correct a misaligned shaft to seal problem.
