Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
From what I've read, they use the tread pattern of the S03s with the compound of the S02s.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Not the question you asked, but do take a close look at the S02A's. they are Porsche approved, and are quieter than the pilot sports. From what I've read, they use the tread pattern of the S03s with the compound of the S02s. I'm running them now and love them.
Noise aside, I can tell you from personal experience that the S03 is the biggest piece of crap and yes, it is noisy, not to mention heavier than any other tire in its class/size, terrible for wear and so-so on dry pavement (ok, it's pretty good in the wet but that's it).
All that said, I didn't even know that the S03 has an 'n' rating making it Porsche approved (or Porsche specific as Viken mentioned).
Do not use Bridgestone S03s. They have a soft sidewall and can come apart from the thread. Check the National Highway and Traffic Safety site and you'll see hundred of complaints.
S03's suck... had them and they are noisy and yes they have a soft sidewall... I'm currently on S02A and love them... they are pretty quiet... no noise complaints here... I've also heard good things about the michelin PS2 but never tried them.
"Do you find the S-03 noisy? None of the other Porsche specific tires is going to be any quieter."
Viken,
I do find them noisy, though not as much as the Contis that preceded them. While I wouldn't buy a tire based primarily on noise level, I do use it as a differentiator within a narrow range of quality. Engine noise is music; tire noise is just tiresome.
they sure to suck really really bad. that's why they're the best selling max performance tires at tirerack.
S-03s and PS2s are very similar. the PS2s feel a bit stiffer which i like. it's all splitting hairs. Both the best street tires you can get in the dry and wet.
I replaced Conti's with S03's and I am happy. If you search threads here you would find a number of happy customers.
They are quiter and have better life span then Conti's, at least on my car
If people like you keep buying them based on their tests performed on a BMW, of course they'd be the best selling junk. LOL!
If you think these two tires are very similar, you are driving the national speed limit in a straight line only. For those who bought their P-cars and are driving them the way they're intended, there is a night and day difference between these two tires. The S-03 might be a great sport sedan tire, but a sports car tire it ain't.
I agree with Viken on this. If you search all Rennlist forums, you'll find that most people are truly unhappy with the S03s. At the end of the day, it's entirely up to you and the type of driving you do, the type of performance that you expect, etc, etc. As I mentioned, I for one, will never, ever buy them again.
Robert,
I went from S02's to PS2's and love the change. To qualify that I have to say that I purchased my car w/ the S02's on it and with about 60% tread remaining. That said, and knowing that there is a huge difference in ride quality and noise levels between new and even say, 20% tire wear, I can't imagine that the S02's could have been as quiet and comfortable as the PS2's are. Call Damon at Tirerack for advice. He helped me w/ tire and size decisions and shipped tires directly to my installer.
Good luck,
Mitch
Went from SO3 TO SO2A...SO2A is a superior tire. quiet with a very strong sidewal unlike the very noisy SO3...what it boils down to is driver preference but having compared the S03's to SO2A...its nite and day...
They may be the best selling tire, but that doesn't mean they are well made.
The sidewall failure is a known problem with this tire.
