Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Outcome without a verified action link

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thought the regular 996 forum might be better for this. My buddy is stuck at the ferry with a dead TT. He hopped in, turned key on, saw 12V, tried to start the car and *poof*. Dead car. Zero volts. No power to anything. The car had been starting fine right up until that point. AAA sent a guy over and they tried to jump the fuse panel to open the hood and that didn't work. Now he's waiting for a flatbed. Any thoughts? Possibly related: it's been raining like hell and the car sits outside.

POST 2Original post

First simple check is the clutch sensor...the clutch must be completely depressed and the sensor could be bad. Could also just be a battery too weak to start the car. To open the front hood, there is a cable under the front passenger side wheel well that will release the hood. GL

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

From 12V straight to no power to anything . That's not a weak battery. Something tripped, fused, or broke. The tow truck showed up, at which point he realized he couldn't access his tow hook and I couldn't bring him mine. So the car sits in the parking lot. D'oh. Searching around, I'm wondering if he had clogged drains and his battery is swimming.

POST 4Original post

If the battery was swimming the whole trunk would be full of water as high up as it is. Is there some type of fuseable link on these cars?

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Loose battery cables! <groan> The car clicked on when pulled up on the flatbed, allowing him to open the hood and check the battery.
